Would I be correct in that if I charge a Tau unit and it's friends get to Overwatch that they would be bound by LoS rules? I tried this yesterday as my Destroyer Lord was hidden from everyone but the unit he was charging. I made the claim at the table that the Supporting Fire units wouldn't be able to wound him as they could not see him.

Am I wrong?

Overwatch shooting follows the same wound allocation rules as normal shooting - can't see it, can't allocate to it.

Overwatch does specify it is subject to all the normal rules.

Figured as much - a second Tau player I went against had said "Well, they're charging so they'd be coming at them when they shot..."

Good to know. Just another added mark of something that we now know!

Yeah - the shooting for overwatch, whether from the charged unit or one firing supporting fire, 'treats it as a normal ranged attack' (see overwatch rules), with the only exception is Template weapons:

Since template weapons always hit d3 times - there is no tracing line of fire, making sure that the target is visible, etc....they just do. And yes, until FAQed, Flamer x2 Crisis suits standing BEHIND the FWs getting charged CAN still hit the charging squad.....read the template weapon rules for overwatch

I don't remember ever seeing an argument against this...definately not in this thread.

Bear in mind - though it sounds like this is how you'd played it anyway - that Overwatch takes place *before* you make the charge move. Obviously this will affect what can or can't see the charging unit.
