Its been a while since I touched a paintbrush or a model because I've lost interest and I don't want to because this is an amazing hobby. Could you guys give me some advice on how I could get back into the hobby?

This sums it up, but if you dont like painting, modeling and such any more I dare say you should just let the brush lay still for a bit longer.

Try vassal for a while if you're tired of painting and manipulating models.

I go in waves, some weeks I spend hours painting, reading the codex and planning, then I stop and don’t look at my models for a while. What I do to get back in is read 40k tactics here on dakka dakka and go to the gw website and look at models I could use in my army. Before I know it I have 40 more boyz in the mail and more painting to do. Lather rinse repeat.

I paint in groups of 5, write down layers, bases, washes, paint swab on the paper with paints name. if the end result is something I like, i now have a list of colors and techniques i used to work for the desired result. and always remember CHAINSAW SWORDS

I HATE painting. And it shows. Lol. I have just one army that I am truly proud of the paint job on it. Maybe a second one that isn't too bad. the rest... Well...

I just enjoy the hanging out quite a bit, and the kibitzing. I play a LOT, but I dont plan on spending a million bucks to go to bigger events any time soon and I skip tournies to play Dungeons and Dragons one weekend, but then travel 120 miles the enxt to go to a tourney with my friends so I mean...the hobby doesn't need to be the most important one you have in order to enjoy it; and the armies dont have to be uber painted to to play them with buddies.

Thats my take. Just enjoy your games and dont obsess over the details too much.

Hold out bait to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and then crush him.

I like using vassal, sometimes people can't really find that they enjoy the aesthetic of an army over another, and need some testing to find out what sort of army type they prefer.
