So I will soon have a game against my friend who plays Chaos. (Will propably have Cultist-based list with some Chosen ones, but I can't be sure)
We agreed that we will have 2 games. Both will once be attackers and once defenders.
The defender-bonus: 200p for only Fortification (no other fort. will be allowed)
Attacker-bonus: + 250p, so 1250 total.
The game will be pure annihilation and I made this my defending list:

HQ
Librarian - 100p

Elites
Terminator Squad - 450p
CF and Heavy Flamer
In Land Raider Redeemer

Troops
2x Tactical Squad - 2x 180p (360p)
Both will have Plasma Cannon & Melta Gun

Heavy Support
Predator - 70p

= 980p

Besides these I have 2x ADL with Quad-gun. The plan is to keep tactical squads and predator behind ADL and suprisingly, fire.
After turn or two, I will deep strike behind enemy lines with LRR. Then (if possible) flame as many enemy marines as possible.
Next turn I would disembark and assault with terminators.

And now, I have mainly 4 questions:
1) Is it wise to have half of my points in one unit?
2) Should libby go with terminators, or defend with tacticals?
3) I still have 20 points. How to use them? I tought that maybe I should give HB-sponsons to Predator so where could I get those extra 10p?
4) I also tought to switch one ADL for Imperial Bastion and either take 2 Icarus Lascannons, or 1 Quad-gun and Comms Relay to make sure those reserves will come on time.

Thanks in advance dear Dakka!

In my opinion, it's better to take assault terminators. And for them simple Land Raider is the best choise.

I tought the same about assault terminators, but I don't have the models yet and I'm not sure if I have time to paint them before this game.
But if I do, how should I equip them. 2x TH/SS and rest LC's?

And about LR, are you sure? I already have some AT-fire (predator and quad-guns) so main target of it will propably be infantry, so those AP3 flamers will be nasty.

The problem with a single Redeemer is their lack of range. A standard LR gives you 4' effective range. A LRC gives you 24" max, 12" optimal range. Redeemers have a practical range of ~8". If its likely that he will be using a lot of cultists, a LRC is likely the best choice here.
Also, with the tactical Termies, you would probably be best off with a Cyclone missile launcher. Font have them in the LR if that's the case (or even drop the LR for 5 more and the second cyclone).

Yeah, but if the plan is to get close via Deep Striking, I don't see how range is a problem. I can shoot the Cultists easily with plasma cannons so I'm more worried of what Elites he might have. And unless they are Terminators (he uses them very rarely) that S6 AP3 template weapon will propably wipe floor with them.

Is he deep striking? Because DSing a LR is not usually a great idea. I reread the fist post, didn't see that bit. My bad.
DSing a LR is risky, so keep that in mind.

If range won't be an issue than a redeemer looks good. Barring Termies/1k Sons/Hellbrutes they will definitely make a mess of units.

I know there are risks, and I'm still trying to decide if I do it or not. (So if I decide not to DS, then you say I should take Crusader?)

But if it succeeds, there are some benefits. That will allow me to get close without fear of him to focus some lascannons on my tank. Also I will get in his back, and force him to split his units and fire to bring down my toughest units (AV14 & 2+ armor inside). Or optionally, withstand Land Raider stalking in his back

If you think its worth the risk, definitely take a redeemer. A crusader would deal with cultists fairly well, which could free up the plasma cannons to deal with his elites. Besides the risk, the other issue with DSing a LR is it is gone for a turn. Absorbing lascannon shots means other guys aren't, and while it may be out of range it is doing something. In reserve it draws no fire And cannot contribute. But if you DS successfully it would be worth it I think. If you took a drop pod w/ locator beacon (45 points) you could deploy its squad, drop it empty, and hopefully have a bubble to DS the LR w/o scatter, so that may be worth looking into.

Okay, I'll see if I can find the points for that. Thanks!

This sounds like a good time for a 5 ASM squad with hand flamer/flamer in TL HF razor. It's cheap too.

So if I take them, wich one will I remove.
Terminators and LR, or one of the Tac Squads?
And if the first, what to do with extra points?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And that combo would be total of 150p (w/ PW on Sgt)

And how are you going to play against, for example, CSM with a heldrake?

Well I tought about that too, but I happen to know that he doesn't have the model for that. And if he borrows it or something, I believe those Quad-guns could handle it, or what do you think?

Heldrake has 12 AV. Quad-gun not always will be able to penetrate it. Maybe it's better to take 1 priest?

Well, as I said, I can use those points only for Fortification so I can't take priest without removing some troops.
