Heavy Support - Medusa w/ Bastion Breacher Shells

Just seems to have some of the best answers for infantry, flyers, heavy tanks, or light tanks. Its mix of units and fire power appears, at least on paper, to have solid game against everything. What say you?

It's nice, yes but not guaranteed to beat everything in its path.

If your opponent has a few embedded heavy weapon teams, he can do bad things to your troop choices and make your small teams footslog towards any objectives.

Medusae are Forgeworld and not necessarily allowed in all tournaments.

The vendetta squadron is a nice fast attack unit as are the leman russes. The gunships can be glanced to death though so don't leave them hanging out there near mobs who can throw lots of dice.

It's a good list as long as you work out how to adapt its tactics to different foes and the 1001 tricks tournament organisers come up with.
This is great for an open battlefield but not so for more crowded ones with choke points.
How does this list cope with an Omega level Cities of Death board? The mech option has drawbacks here. One zapgun on the head of the column can leave your entire attack resembling a parking lot.

The only weak point for me are your scoring units which may end up relying on the rest of the army clearing the way for them in turns 1-4 before racing to grab objectives....and if the ork nobs in that ruin don't want to open the door to you, well, veteran or not, you ain't comin' in humie.

When I play IG, I do like to have a couple of weapon teams and an infantry wave to soak up fire.

However, I'm an ork player mostly so what the hell would I know? :-)

All good points, though the Medusa is right out of the current GW codex.

Flames on Bs4 Vets seems a waste. Plasma fits here better than on the Russes who over pay for it. If you're going double force org Id advise more Vendettas. Also some Vets for them works well. HQs are better off with plasma as 4 plasmas is great whereas generally 4 meltasis over kill.

Id swap all your HS for Manticores. Well at least all the Russes.

Drop a Chimeras plasma up both the CCSs and the Chimera Vets then put 2 melta vet squads in the Vendettas, possibly with demo charges if you have the points.

I don't know, I just can't get over the 12/10/10 AV, its so weak compared the 14/13/11 the Leman's have, I don't think running all manticores is correct, perhaps a mix of both.

My other concern is the extra points for plasma guns over melta. On guys with a 5+ save, if they get hot they're going to kill me. I can't help but remember the old MTG rule, don't play a deck that loses to itself. I agree that the plasma is better than the melta in general, but I just cant stomach losing my 15 point upgrades every time I roll a 1.....

Put heavy flamers on the hull weapon and keep the multi lasers for turrets. Get an astropath so you get those vendettas in asap. Plasmas and meltas for the vets. Instead of 3 executioners get 1-2 and the last slot a manticore or medusas are fine.

Put Heavy Flamers on all the Hull's? Or just a few?
