Hey Dakka, I've been working on a custom mission for a doubles game. Let me know what you think!
Mission: Get the Bastard!
There he is, the bastard! Get him!
Deployment: Players deploy in L shaped zones in the corners of the map, 24" along each edge and 12" inwards. Partners are deployed in opposite corners. One player will deploy first, then the two players from the opposite team, and then the last player.
Objectives: One objective is scattered 2d6 from the centre. After that, each team places one objective anywhere on the board, 18" away from table edges and other objectives. Each Objective is worth one point.
The Bastard: The Bastard is then placed in the centre of the map. After every players turn, he will move 1d6" in a random direction. He will shoot the nearest unit from any team, and then attempt to charge if within 12". In close combat, he will always issue/accept a challenge, and against shooting, he will always Look Out Sir!. If his random move would take him off the board, simply re-roll it.
The Bastard's WS, BS, S, T, I and A are equal to ten minus the number of wounds he has (he begins with nine)! His armour save is 4+ invulnerable, which becomes 2+ invulnerable against any kind of template attack. He is equipped with a Very Annoying Gun (S5, Range 24", Assault 1 Armourbane). The AP of this gun and the AP of his close combat attacks is equal to seven minus the number of victory points the player he is attacking currently has. So if you have five VP, he's AP 2 sucka
Each wound you inflict on The Bastard gives you one point. If you kill him, you get one point for that final wound and then an additional two points. In addition, the Bastard will drop The Loot, a counter that can be carried by any Troops Infantry model which is worth five points if you can carry it off the board.
The Bastard begins the game with a bodyguard of 2d6 Buddies. Each Buddy has WS 4 BS 4 S 4 T 4 W 1 I 4 A 2 Ld (fearless) Armour 4+ (invuln), and like the Bastard, they have 2+ invulnerable against templates, have a Very Annoying Gun, and the varying AP effect.
Lastly, The Bastard can never suffer more than one wound from any one hit. Attacks that may inflict Instant Death and such will only do one wound instead.
Other Special Rules: Night Fighting in turn one, First Blood (but does not apply to transports)(one point), Slay the Warlord (one point)

The major issue I see that would turn people off is that there is a TON of bookkeeping in the mission. I think that would slow things down a bit too much.
Clarification: The Bastard can never suffer more than one wound from any one hit.
Question: Does this mean that if my squad shoots him, they can only deal 1 wound? Even if they hit 30 times..?

The keyword is "hit" man. If he's hit thirty times he could be wounded thirty times.
Anyway, I took your advice and simplified it. Already got one guy keen on the mission so cheers for that.

Looks fun,
might want to clarify if the bastard is considered an enemy unit (does he contest objectives? can he be within 1" of an enemy unit if not in assault? can he be targeted by friendly psychic powers[that would be awesome]?)
so he has pseudo eternal warrior...he is an eternal bastard, sorta.

Eternal Warrior
Well that certainly makes it easier lol.
Good point. He will count as an enermy for purposes of objectives, and can most certainly be targeted by special powers that usually only target allies because yes, that would be awesome

I think its cool. I don't know how it works fluff-wise, but game play wise, I look forward to it

Ragin' Ork Dreadnought

There's problems with the inverse stats thing. So he's got T1 to start... once hid retinue is mostly dead, what's to stop me from charging with, say, a charge of Ork boys? Or shooting him with just a ton of stuff? (All from the same unit, of course.) If the hits are all simultaneous, then he'll be blown to bits before he can benefit from T9.

Damn good point there man.
I had to simplify the mission so that he's just got set stats. If I was keeping inverse stats, I suppose it would require a whole lot of single dice rolls.
