Hi, so I really like the new flamepyre model in the new high elf release and would like to convert one into a heldrake.

If I put a balefire in its mouth and made it mechanical, give it the appropriate heldrake base would that be tourney legal?

Sure, its flying and it shoots fire. Sounds WYSIWYG to me.

It would depend on the tournament organiser.

There is no single, worldwide 'tournament standard' to apply here. Every TO will decide for themselves whether a conversion is acceptable in their event.

How likely it is to be accepted would mostly come down to how similar in size the two models are.

Might have problems as it really is tiny compared to the Heldrake.

It's a MUCH smaller model on a lower flying base. I'd probably have beef with that for that purpose. Much easier to block LOS where the Heldrake is probably one of the biggest flyers with a massive silhouette.

If you put it on a flying base, it'd be sure to look extremely derpy. Keep in mind that elf is about 3/4 the size of a space marine for size comparison. It's a cool model, but I'd not recommend doing that.

As mentioned above, it is a much smaller model than a helldrake, which completely overshadows a large oval base. It's a neat idea, but the scale is just way off.

Helldrakes about 140mm head to stub
190 mm wing to wing

The bird using the base as measurements appears to be
170-200 mm from wing to wing
and 100-140 mm from head to tail

Thats pretty close to me.

I also looked at thigh elf, while slimmer then a space marine they are the same height or taller.

Your phoenix estimates seem about right, although there's obviously a big margin of error built into them, but your Heldrake measurements seem a bit small based on what I've seen of them.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Anyone actually have the pheonix that could take a picture and compare to a space marine?
