Am i correct in thinking that you cannot give grand strategy to dreadknights with personal teleporters? GS says it can be given to infantry jump infantry or monstrous creatures. I know jump monstrous creature is a subset of MC but why say infantry and jump infantry if again jump just made them a subset of infantry?

Perhaps because in the last set of rules when the codex was written Jump MC didn't exist and Jump infantry were a completely different category to get infantry rather than a sub category like now?

Well that's what I thought (and how i've been playing it) but the entry has been updated in the FAQ to specify codex:grey knights units only, but it still only says MC's.

They didn't change the wording because they didn't have to. Jump MC is a sub category so already included. That the rule over explains that Infantry also applies to jump infantry is a relic from last edition. It doesn't need changing because it still works.

Common sense should prevail here. You can give it to Jump Infantry and you can give it Monstrous Creatures, logic would dictate that you're allowed to give it to a Jump Monstrous Creature. It's just an oversight in the errata because Jump Monstrous Creatures didn't exist in the rules before 6th ed when the GK codex was written.

Go ahead and give Grand Strategy to your teleporting Dreadknights, anyone that argues with you on the matter is probably a whiney little b*tch and isn't worth playing anyway. I'd most certainly allow it.

Completely agree, could cause issues in a tournament setting though.

Any tournament organiser with half a brain cell can tell that it's intended, but all you can do is ask. If they don't allow it then they don't allow it, but tournament organisers reserve the right to change the rules as they see fit anyway so it's always worth checking first regardless.

MC (jump) is a subset of MC, so you have no difficulty in giving GS RAW to a teleporter DK

How it says MCs jump MCs are a subset so are also covered. It doesn't say Dreadknights in the rule so if your using it doesn't specify which subsets of MCs are covered then literally no units can get.

I use Grand Strategy on mine all the time. I love seeing my opponent's face when we're tied on VP in turn 5 then I bounce a DK 30" onto an objective to either deny or claim it.

Am I reading the latest FAQ update correctly (v1.4)? Now that models with the Independent Character special rule may not be chosen, and per 6E Nem Dreadknights are charecters, they may no longer be targets of GS?

They are Characters, but what makes you think they're Independant Characters?

Character != Independent Character.
