Space Marine Scout with Sniper Rifle

Bushmills, Northern Ireland

So after a long hiatus from 40k (2 years), I dived back in, trying to finish painting my long ago started Space Marine army.

Looking among some of my older metal minis I have a number of favourites, the old harlequins, Ulrik, Njal and an original Ghazghkull (w/ his little Gretchin, whose name I can't remember) and realised that I didn't have a Commissar Yarrik in my collection. After a quick search I nabbed from eBay in great condition and never painted for £2 + postage.

So I've now been left wondering what other old minis would be a create addition to my collection that aren't actually around any more?

Would love to hear peoples thoughts on this

The Gretchin's name you're after is "Makari".

I have a squad of 10 Death Company from 3rd ed... the metal bodies with plastic arms, love 'em to pieces. I think you're looking for even older than that, though.

How about some 2nd ed Tyranids? For the most part they look horrific, but nostalgic, and the Carnifex in particular is pretty much unique. It's a massive mouth with pincers and stumpy feet!
The old power-armoured Marneus Calgar would be another good one.

I really want the Armorcast Tyranids. Exocrine, Malefactor, Haruspex, Trygon and Dactylis.

They don't fit the new aesthetic at all, but still, huge nostalgia trip.

Leman russ and his wolves. Original Grey Knights. the screamer killer is a classic. I always liked the 2nd edition Assassin (note to self, must get). they are still around, but schaefers last chancers are awesome. I also have the Ltd edition Emperors champion, and some Classic Terminator inquisitors. I have a soft spot for RT Landspeeders and imperial jetbikes (i'm curently getting the models for a full squad of bikers, although the attack jetbikes may be a challenge)
the old sentinels are something to look at, eggs on legs, truly terrible but nostalgic all the same, and the same deal with old dreadnaughts. I've even seen imperial robots on ebay from time to time, and were it not for the wife giving me 'the look' i'd have bought some.

I just bought a citadel old ruined cathedral with little bullet marks in on ebay for £12. It looked pretty cool. Unpainted of course.

Really want the old space huk genestealers. The 3rd ones. They have so many poses and are MUCH better looking than the normal genestealers. Not that they would see any play, but.....

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

The only old models I actually care for are metal cadians.

I don't get the nostalgia trip from the ugly old models, but the old cadians actually look somewhat better than modern ones; they're better proportioned and scaled, without giant bobble heads, guns the size of missile launchers, and human sized legs.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

"Makari" - Thank you, that was starting to drive me a little nuts!

I have some old style Tyranids from the old Tyranid Attack game that I love the look off, as well as the cool retro space marine scout as well. I have a couple of old character termies, a librarian and an inquisitor.

Now please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure that when I first started way back when I had a couple of space marines (not terminators) with assault cannons...

Correction, I'm afraid, you didn't. ...you had AWESOME Space Marines with assault cannons, because they came from the Space Crusade board game, back in the days where men were men and carried real guns, and didn't need "please hide me" armour to do so:

Far left are (limited edition) LE-10 s. One of the original rogue trade space marines prototype.

I scoured the Web looking for those. I found some guy in England trying to unload them on a blog he has 12 of them.
He wanted 8 dollars a pop w shipping. I almost cried tears of joy. They run 30 dollars each on ebay. His were all unpainted too.

Diaz Daemonettes and seekers? Check (only a couple of each - and I don't play daemons, but dayum, they ARE sexy models).

Original Mark Copplestone Commissars? Check. (they just had more character and fewer skulls).
