I like the idea of putting the wolf lord and rune priest in the pod, but I really worry that the rune priest sucks in close combat. In fact, if he's locked in close combat then he really can't do what he's good at - cast spells. Did you think about making him a wolf priest instead? That way, he gives the wolf lord and the GH squad preferred enemy.

Also since the Rune Priest can either shoot the combi-melta or cast a psychic power (not both) I would say the combi-weapon is probably wasted on him and besides, the WG and GH squads already have enough melta. In fact a rune priest is probably best used to buff the long fangs - he doesn't belong up front.

Other than your RP which I mentioned above, I think it's a pretty good list.

thnx for reply, I did a slight change i removed terminator armor from rune priest and the combi weapon and put a WG with combi melta in the squad so it
is something like 6 GH, melta, standard, 1WG combi-melta,Pod + Wolflord+runepriest naked. i take rune priest over wolfpriest cause the prefered enemy is only for one unit type,
so i think divination is better, and for the spychic defence. When he is with the longfangs is most of the time too far away to use its runic weapon against enemy psychers, and also i need him to cast jaws cause its a game changer against certain armies such as nids (club that tervigon ). as for cc i got the wolf lord to take challenges so i dont think he ll be in a lot of danger.

I understand the rune priest. In this case, my advice is to not be dead-set on putting him in that squad. You can take a glance at your opponent's army first before you decide. So If you want to kill tervigons with jaws or stop psyker shenanigans, it makes sense to put him up front. But if your opponent is, for example, a horde of IG with no psykers or monstrous creatures, then you're better off leaving the RP with the long fangs.

The beautiful thing is that you don't have to decide until you set up the board.

Grugknuckle has pretty much said all that needs to be said. I would just reinforce his point he's trying to make regarding the Rune Priest. Space Wolves are very lucky in that you can make very flexible lists that can deploy multiple ways with the same units. Some games you'll want your Rune Priest up front, other times you'll want him in your back line with the Long Fangs.

Going further, the Wolf Guard can also be used as Pack Leaders at will. Granted, with your current list they can't be shoved into the Drop Pods, but sometimes you'll come across a list where you won't want to deploy in your Drop Pods. Some Tyranid lists come to mind.

Anyways, just keep that in mind when you make your lists. You a more flexible list is usually a better list, as it makes it less likely you'll encounter a hard counter to your list.

You are right about changing deployment to deal with a certain enemy and thats exactly what i had in mind with the pods and the runepriest. Thnx for feedback, i ll let you know how it went
