So I was reading up on 6th Edition Kill Teams and I understand that unit wide special rules or upgrades apply for the entire unit (i.e. Eldar with Fleet or Cybork armor for Orks), while character upgrades that would affect their entire unit apply to the single model only (i.e. a fnp for an Ork painboy's unit).

My question is with the Necron Deathmarks and their special rule "Hunters From Outer Space". I know that the entire unit benefits from the rule but I can't figure out if they should be able to target an entire unit or if they may only select a single enemy model.

They can be used effectively either way but automatically wounding any model on a 2+ and rending on 6s with rapid fire 24" is brutal. What's more, a unit of 5 are almost as cheap as a tactical squad. I look forward to seeing what everyone here thinks.

Each deathmark gets to nominate a unit which is a model by the rules set forth by Kill Teams. At least that was the way it was ruled for the previous Kill Team set up.

Ok, I guess that makes sense. It makes them a bit harder to use but I think they're some of the best possible choices with that ability. Give one stealth, one shrouded and one fnp on top of their reanimation protocols and 4+ armor and you have a pretty hard to kill group of baddies.

A minimal unit of Deathmarks and a unit of Scarabs to tie up many heavy hitters. The number of wounds on the scarabs make then incredibly hard to deal with at their point cost. Give a Scarab it will not die for hilarity.

This is my current Kill Teams list haha

so far I've only lost once out of 3 games and it was against an Ork player who took 20 Gretchin, 2 Runtherders, and 10 'ard boyz with a nob with big choppa.
Scarabs just couldn't hold them off long enough.
