Have heard absolutely nothing about this. Very skeptical.
And for those who do not want to click through:
Bit by Bit Gaming wrote:According to a reliable source within Bioware, I have been told that as of Monday, Bioware is now the proud owner of the Space Marines : 40k Franchise after THQ went under and sold off its IPs due to finical troubles earlier this year.
The source, who shall remain unnamed told me about several features that might make themselves a reality in 2014, the projected date of the games release. Originally Warhammer 40k: Dark Millennium was to be a MMORPG based on the Games Workshop table top game, but THQ decided to make it into a 3rd person shooter with online elements. It seems that Bioware is going to keep with this formula. The only solid feature I could drag out of the source was that the campaign is going to be fluid and will feature a 1st founding chapter of Space Marines.I tried to glean more information from him but all he could tell me was that the main playable chapter for the Space Marines might have very very dark skin (The Salamanders?). He also went on to say Orks, Imperial Guard and The Tao might might an appearance as playable races. This is yet to be set into stone but here's hoping!
Although the details are scarce, this is a nice pick me up for the fans of THQ's Space Marine and 40k fans in general. Hopefully as the situation develops a bit more I will be able to bring more information your way. But right now it'll be a waiting game. It's just nice to know that a company like Bioware, who's known to drive a game with great narrative has picked up the project and will hopefully bring it to the next level!
So basically it's a "he said, she said" at this moment.

Well, time will tell if it's true or not. BioWare does their "big announcements" on Wednesdays or Thursdays, depending on how the community coordinators are getting around.

Depends if Relic or THQ had the rights, if it was the latter they may have reverted back to GW when they went under. Although I was pretty sure someone at SEGA confirmed 40K was under their umbrella around the time they picked up Relic. We'll know soon enough, although CVG have nothing yet, and they tend to be pretty quick on the ball with Video game related news.

I really hope the 40k IP isn't in bioware's hands, as much as tehy try to make good games there's only so much one can do when you're EA's bitch.

When Sega bought Relic they aqcuired some rights and the right to publish existing Relic games (including SPace Marine) but the 40K license was noticably absent from the press releases at the time. Supposedly this was due to GW having a clause in the licensing agreement which meant that they had the final say about who it could be transfered to.
It hasn't been confirmed but I have heard that GW gets on well with Sega (they already hold the Warhammer rights) so we happy to allow the transfer to go ahead.
Its a possiblity that Bioware has aqcuired the Space Marine rights but as it stands I find it doubtful. Bioware is a shadow of its former self so I don't hold much hope for a 40K game developed by them.

Pre Mass Effect 3, that would have been great news.
The company, however, has been in a pretty downward spiral, not bad, but certainly not the bastion of glory they once were. I wouldn't trust 40k with EA, and I hope Relic keeps the IP.
|
Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Relic is dead.
I'm fine with EA publishing a BioWare developed 40k game. But I think it is not really likely to be happening, because BioWare very likely has their plates full with titles for the next gen consoles.

This seems pretty unlikely. Bioware handed off KotOR II to Obsidian specifically because they wanted to focus on their own IP for single player games. That focus could've changed, of course, but I doubt it.
Certainly hope it's not true, either way. The last thing 40K needs is a cinematic tale about a lone Space Marine who must gather a lovable cast of characters around himself - or, knowing Bioware, herself - and romance half of them while on the way to punch Tzeentch in the jimmies.

Highly doubtfull. So far as I know the 40K IP is in the hands of Sega now who bought Relic.
I would be highly dissapointed if it fell into the hands of Bioware/EA.

I know about Sega buying the 40k ip, but I've heard squat all regarding this.
As far as I am aware of, Dark Millennium is a dead game and no one is willing to throw money at it.
Dawn of War and Space Marine however do have a backer, but we will be waiting a while for something new.
