1, buy LA's totaly awesome or simple green
2, pour it into a old ice cream container (eat ice cream first yum!)
3, dump in models
4, forget about models for 24-48 hours
5, pick models out
6, sing the ABC's song while brushing models with a toothbrush
7, rinse all the models very well
8, give toothbrush to an enemy
9, You're now done.

This... QFT.
Any plastic container big enough for your models will work though ice cream is delicious. Don't try the paper ice cream containers though as you'll need the container to hold liquid.
If you still have paint left on after the first brushing throw the models back in for another day or two. I've had the best luck with LA's Totally Awesome. You can pick it up at the dollar store or walmart plus it's useful for cleaning other stuff as well.

It also depends on the quality of the paint you are using. I used artist accrylic at one point in time (do not laugh) it falls right off no scrubbing required.
The GW line comes off a little bit harder same with Vallejo.
Vallejo model air takes a long time, i am on two weeks soaking and scrubbing and there are still some tricky parts.
I am using Simple Green undiluted, but i am about to choose a different cleaning solution.

I prefer the quicker method.
1. Buy ultrasonic jewelry cleaner from Amazon (~$30-$40).
2. Mix warm water with simple green to the strongest dilution recommended on the bottle (I haven't tried LA's).
3. Toss in models and run for about 30 minutes.
4. Scrub with toothbrush to get the chunks off. Scrub is something of a misnomer, as it generally flakes off easily.
5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until it's clean.
6. Run one or two cycles in clean tap water to get rid of any residue.
Acrylics are usually done in an hour or less, including primer. Enamels can take longer and may even require an overnight soak before repeating steps 3&4 again several times the next day if they're really thick.
Using this method, the models have all come out perfectly clean (including primer) and none have been damaged. I've used it on plastics from GW and on resins from Forgeworld, Dystopian Wars, Dropzone Commander, and Flames of War.
Well worth the investment IMO.

La's totally awesome looks like this
Never has it failed me.
This is simple green...
It can't break though walmart glossy spray paint, but it does well on GW paints as far as I know.
