Hello - been lurking on the Dakka forums for a couple weeks now and decided to post. I was unfortunately robbed about a month ago and the thieves took all of my miniature gaming stuff. The process of searching/investigating/listing everything that was stolen has rekindled my interest in the hobby.

Back when I used to play, I mostly played Warhammer 40K... some 1st edition, a lot of 2nd edition, and some 3rd. When I stopped playing in 3rd, the Tau had just been released, so it's interesting to see how much has changed and how much has stayed the same since then. It's almost like stepping out of a time capsule...

Wow, that sucks,

What are you planning on replacing your gear with, re-visiting the old collection or something completely different?

Well, I had approx. 3 armies... Fantasy Orcs & Goblins... WH40K Eldar... and WH40K Squats. Plus a bunch of other stuff (Mordheim, Blood Bowl, etc).

Unfortunately insurance won't come through for everything and some of the stuff is too hard to find again. I'm looking at WH40K Eldar and Blood Bowl. I think it's a good time since the new Eldar codex is coming and there are rumors around Blood Blowl.

Very disappointed about the Squats... plus I'd hoped that after about 10 years away from the hobby that GW would have gotten the dwarf archetype back into WH40K.

Mantic Games has Space Dwarves known as Forge Fathers. I like the miniatures a lot, they are a bit brawnier than GW's Squats/Dwarves and have less of a grog gut. They also have LOTS of firepower, including their version of a dreadnought. The plastic/resin minis have great prices.

I got back into TTWG recently because of Mantic's support for this race, as I started collecting Squats back in 88 when I first discovered Rogue Trader. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn of Mantic's product support for this line and I was even more pleasantly surprised to download the rule book and army list for free.

May the dice be with you!
