So i opened and painted my assault marines to find there were no special weapons, only useless plasma pistols. Probably because the space marines can`t use them and it is a box for the space marine codex. So where can i get the meltaguns and arms from without buying tactical marine boxes?

There are plenty of bitz sites to get the arms from. Plasma guns and meltaguns CAN be tough to get since lots of people want them, so the official GW pack is your easiest option there, but the arms should be a doddle and ridiculously cheap to boot. Only thing to watch for is the shipping cost.

Also worth notiing that the price per unit is slightly cheaper on the Forge World melta kit (at least in the US, due to exchange rates). Shipping might very well ruin that though.

IIRC the assault marine box comes with flamers. Same arm pose so you just need to get the meltaguns from somewhere.
