So I was curious as to how many ways I could build my new Vampire count army, I have just bought a VC battalion and a box of Ghouls. So I still looking for what HQs to use and how to use them, I play as WoC usually and looking at the VC I have no idea on how to build them lol, Im totally use to having scary groups of warriors to deal with most things. So any help would be great! Also I hope to get a list for about 2000 pts, I play mostly against Skaven
Right now Heres my list:
20 Skeletons(FC,Spears)= 130 pts also no sure what magic banner to give them.
30 Ghouls(1 Crypt Ghast)= 300 pts
10 Dire Wolves (1 Doom Wolf)= 82 pts
1 Corpse Cart= 90pts

So here is where I'm at
Krell= 205
Vampire (Heavy armour, night shroud, lvl 2)= 184
Necromancer( corpse cart, lvl 2)= 180
20 skeletons(FC, spears and screaming banner)=150
30 ghouls(1 ghast)=300
10 dire wolves(1 doom wolf)=82
3 vargheists( 1 vargoyle)= 148
1 varghulf= 175
Total= 1424
My first game will be at 1600 points and could use more advice on what else to bring or upgrade. Also I'm playing a rat lover

Necromancers on corpse carts are never a good idea. They become targets for shooting attacks, they eat up your heroes limit and they are too slow to be relied upon. Take him on foot in a unit of zombies then have the cart follow along.
Skeletons need another 10 men and swords rather than spears. They will not kill anything ever, don't treat them as a combat unit.
Direwolves are better used as re-directors imo, 2 unit of 5 with no champs.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

WoC are a strong all round army. Anything you put down on the table is going to be more than a match for your opponents units, you'll just have less of them.
VC are about putting down lots and lots of crappy units then a few good ones lead by your unstoppable heroes.

The model for the corpse cart works great on foot. You can use him as your necro.

Thinking of Joining a Davinite Loge

The VC are an army that really benefits from hammer and anvil tactics. You can spam your anvil as well. You want lots of skelletons - you will lose them but they offer you a cheap unit you can bring back to life. Your characters will win you combat. You need at least 1 VC. Try a Ghoul King - he is a combat monster. When you get into combat, you will lose rank and file troops but your VC, standard, ranks, and outnumbering the enemy should either win you combat or you should be able to tarpit the enemy and raise your troops back to whittle his down. Vargheists are great but they are vampires so you can't raise them back easily and frenzy means they will get baited out of your ranks. They are great to put on a flank and take out war machines. Horrors are great at taking a hit because of their high toughness and they can be healed easier.

Decided to deck out the Vampire some more and also thought that the Wraights and banshee are the perfect annoying unit it tie another one up.
