So my marines tend to do badly in my games versus a friend playing DE. I have a feeling it's because we don't have a proper gaming table, paired with his over-fondness of named characters (Vect and Cataceract or something like that). Here's the list I most recently used. At the end of the game, his Dias of Destruction still stood unharmed, along with roughly half of his army. We need to start actually counting turns, but as we play casually, he likes to go to the last man. I drafted this in the moment, as we hadn't done a game to these points before and it was fairly improptu. HQ Captain SM Bike, Artificer Armour, 1 Lightning Claw, Hellfire Rounds, 175 pts Marneus Calgar, 250 pts Troops 10 man Tac Squad Sergeant CCW, Flamer, Lascannon, Razorback with Storm Bolter and HK Missile, 240 pts 10 man Tac Squad Combi-plasma, Plasma gun and cannon, Rhino with HK Missile, 240 pts 5 man Scout Squad Sergeant w/ CCW, Heavy Bolter, 3x bolters, 85 pts Elites plain (AOBR) Dread w/ Drop Pod, 140 pts 5 man Sternguard Squad 2 combi-melta, combi-plasma, 140 pts 5 man Terminator Squad Cyclone ML, 230 pts The tac squad with the razorback is combat squaded, sarge and flamer in the transport, lascannon and co footslogging. I'll have more models painted and ready in the near future, so I'll list the other models below; Ven Dread with options for AC, TL LC, PC, and has a heavy flamer on the DCCW another 5 man scout squad, all CCW with the sergeant having a shotgun and PF models armed with all the weapons included on the dev sprues to put together a coherent 5 man squad or swap weapons around with the tacticals. 5 more termies, one with an AC and another with a Chain fist (combined AOBR termies with proper kit, didn't have enough straight power fists) a power armoured libby with a storm bolter a chaplain with a jump pack a 5 man assault squad packing a power weapon, a combat shield and a flamer a stormtalon with skyhammer missiles (not too sure how to use it) the AOBR captain (usually run as having a Relic Blade and hellfire rounds) a captain with a PF and storm bolter I could effectively run as Pedro Kantor a captain with a PW and plasma pistol, and another with a bolt pistol instead a command squad with champion, banner bearer with PF, a meltagun with a bolter, and the remaining member and apothecary with BB/CCW I believe that's everything. I can already see that the biker captain should be taken out, his usefulness is limited here. Any other recommendations from more experienced players?
