Good Morning to you all from a (suprisingly) sunny UK!

I need you, the Dakka communities wisdom and knowledge to help me find a weathering kit available over the net to help me finish of one of my models.

I remember from a while back (I believe it may even have been on this website) a modeller had stumbled across a DIY weathering kit which he had used on the large space marine statue available from GW and he kindly shared the link on his thread. (If it helps i seem to remember the modeller had painted bird poo on the statue for added effect!)

Unfortunatly I have since lost the thread and that all important link!

From what I remember the site sold the weathing kit in three colours, Green (copper rust effect), Red (General rusting) and another which I can't remember.

If memory serves the weathering mixture once applied reacted with the air to change colour and give the user fantastic results.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Dave don't know if this will help, but have you tried Mig weathering powders ? I picked mine up from Modelzone. They come individually in pots or Tamiya do some that come with three colours ( resembles an eyeshadow thingiemijig ).

I too rememember seeing that thread you mentioned.

Sorry if it doesn't help.

Hi Celtic Warrior thanks for the quick reply.

Glad I'm not going crazy and someone else remembers the thread!

Unfortunatly its not a powder which I'm after - the stuff which was used in the missing thread was almost like a paint/wash applied to the model which then changed colour when it dried.

Cheers anyway

not sure of the article you are referencing but you can achieve the same thing with pigments mixed into 90% rubbing alcohol. It works like a wash and drys in amazing ways. YouTube some of the tutorials from Les Bursley and a historical modelers will open your mind man...

Not sure if its what was referred to but there is a product from Modelmates that does something similar. I remember seeing their stand at Salute for the last few years but have never used it. (I use crushed pastels and white spirit)

I haven't tried this stuff yet, but I saw this video posted here somewhere and your post made me think about it again. Looks like a good product and as notprop posted the link to modelmates, I would assume their other weathering products are as nifty as this rust effect product.
