With the recent announcement that both GW and FW will be discontinuing their stock of specialist games models, I've been considering getting what I need before it all goes away for good.

Looking at Forge World, it appears that I can get a pretty good range of models for BFG that should cover all my needs. The question is, how many of each unit type should I look at getting so I can make flexible lists once no more models are available for purchase?

Edit: Well, given how quickly people are running to FW's site, I expect I'll just have to wait a bit for people to sell their stuff at a loss once they realize that they're really not getting in the gaming that they expected.

Really for a large fleet you shouldnt need more than 1-2 battleships, 4-8 cruisers and a couple dozen escorts. For my own Tau fleet (GW not Forgeworld) Im doing 2 Explorers, 2 Heros, 3 Merchants, 9 Defenders, and 12 Orcas. Later on I may try scratch building (or sourcing) a Warsphere and some Drows but Im not really convinced by them.
