NO this isn't a rules question, BUT...

Okay I had been kicking around the idea of picking up a 1/45 scale B1 Centuro AFV model kit from a hobby store to use as a proxy for either an IG tank or SM predator.

i had done some poking around on the net seeing if I could find a close match it could pass as & found the IG Salamander Attack vehicle, in your opinion guys would the Centuro and the Salamander be a close resemblance to each other? or should I just treat the Centuro as a SM predator tank?

Hah - I have no idea what the tank actually was, but I used something very similar as a Razorback once after some conversion.

Don't know much about the Salamander I'm afraid, but looks like it could pass for a Predator with autocannon - you'd have to either convert or forget about sponsons, though. One important thing - you will need to clear using the model with anyone you have a game against first. Some people may have issue with you not using the proper model, be prepared for this.

Well as proxies go,
1: Ask your opponent
2: Ask your Shop (if it applies)
3: Rule of cool.

The model it self looks really cool but i personally dislike wheeled vehicles as tanks. if anything it looks like a cool chimera. if not a pred would be fine too.

Point of order:

Proxy: Something that is not intended to represent the actual unit, but is being used to placehold on the field.

Counts-As: Something intended to represent the actual unit.

If your model is the correct dimensions and has something like the right loadout, it would be counts-as.

If it is a random object that you are using just to represent it on the field (coke can, cardboard box) or something entirely unlike the unit in question (carnifex), that is a proxy.

This guy looks like a wheeled Predator with an Autocannon. You'll need to 40k it up with skulls, obviously.

I think it could be a good Predator stand-in. I don't think it's suitable for a Salamander though, as the Salamander (a) has a hull-mounted gun, not a turret and (b) is open-topped.

That would indeed be the tank in question. But you guys already knew that from seeing the pic above

Looks a little too... efficient for Warhams

Make sure to have some idiot waving a sword out of the top, and to enlarge the gun to ludicrous proporitions, as well as the forementioned skulls and such

Guard already have some similar stuff from FW at the moment anyway so not as big of a stretch as it might first seem.

I'd say decorate it with some appropriate IG bits, swap out the guys for IG and guns for the 40k ones and paint it up nicely and no one should have an issue. It isn't just a proxy then like a coke can drop pod, but a counts as you've clearly put effort into creating.

Sort of a small update. Though I've not gotten around to the coversion just yet, I had also gone about @ picking up a LAV M(ortar) vehicle and a LAV A2.

The LAV M I'd be using as a transport, the A2 would probably end up being the predator while I am sort of undecided what the Centuro will be. If I count it as a basilisk or something else..
