Hi all, I had been a lurker on dakka and general poster for a long time (well relatively.) My confidence in my painting has never been the best, and always just told myself it's close enough to tabletop to matter. Well now I thought for this year starting, I would start a P&M blog, maybe it'l help motive me to actually get stuff done, maybe it'l even help improve my rather bad painting. Lack of experience, what're you gonna do? Paint more! That's what!

Anyway, I'll be using this space for a little bit of everything. Got some 6mm generic sci-fi i'm working on, and looking towards things like heavy gear blitz. And a little of anything else I happen to feel like painting of course. Anyway on with things. I'll try and get some pictures up to start me off later this evening. Fingers crossed and all that.

Right got some pictures faster than I thought I would. Thanks for the encouragement btw, that's what i'm hoping. This'l encourage me to actually finish stuff and get the practice in

First up a group shot. 6mm Los Vagabundos. Mostly be using these for Armour Grid: Mech Attack, or anything else 6mm that catches my eye. Basic idea of them was inspired by the Vagabundos team from Lost Planet 2. Crazy Mexican Desert Raiders. The mini's at the minute are a mix of Ground Zero Games and EM4. Got more to come as I ran out of bases. Based on 25mm Hex bases with some Green Paste. Hopefully get it looking nice and desert themed. The spoiler images are just bare metal and what have you.

Spoiler:

The Infantry.
Spoiler:
Spoiler:

First pair of tanks.
[spoiler]

A pack of Hound dogs. Two packs currently, the other dog pack is "supporting" the infantry in the above shot.
Spoiler:

And finally a trio of support mechs.

The mechs could do with another wash. The sheme idea will be mostly desert camo with bits of bandit "additions". Bright colours and obnoxious customization.

Not so much an update as an "I fixed something". Kaldor Draigo finecast had a slight mishap of a run in with a small family member, and managed to get his sword broken. I need to repaint where i fixed it, and the scroll bits need repainting badly.

Update TIME! Finally got the 6mm stuff painted up.

Tried to get the tanks looking like the camo paintjobs been worn down over time without bothering to replace it.

The Large Mechas. Minor changes from last time, inked, added a transfer to one on a whim and got the bases done.

The "Not VOTOM" Hounddogs. Given the amount of each type I have, I decided to tie them into loose units. First unit got a skull designation and a Red Shoulder (heh). Second unit isn't pictured, but has a blue shoulder and no designation yet.

And the Infantry. No real comment on these guys, not exactly my favorite thing to paint as it turns out, even if they are quick.

Anyway comments and criticism welcome (Though i'll probably regret saying that as i cry my eyes out to sleep ). There's more of these guys to do, I ended up running out of bases. As well as the not pictured Blue-dog unit, theres a 3rd unit, a 3rd tank and a load more infantry (ugh). Anyway till next time!

EDIT: I gakked up putting the images in

Camo on the tanks looks really good, you've definitely got the look you were after. It's hard to critique a 6mm model - they're so teeny I think just getting the paint in the right place is a pretty big achievement! Looking at Kaldor Draigo though I think you've certainly got the basics in place. Slightly thinner paint and a little more time on each model would help you get a crisper/cleaner look IMO, but whether you actually want that or not is really personal preference.

Thanks for the advice, not thinning the paint down enough is a really bad habit of mine. Draigo got painted about last year or so, so i'm actually nowhere near as bad for it as i was then.

Picked up the lord and chosen from the Dark Vengeance boxset cheap to start on a little warband for In the Emperors Name. Nothing major to show yet, but I altered the two bolter twins to make them stand out a bit.

Great to see more 6mm on here. The Ground Zero Games stuff looks great and you've really hit the weathered desert camo on the tanks nicely.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Ok just a quick post, early test paint scheme for my heavy gear stuff. More just to give an idea of what colours will be going where.

Ok more 6mm stuff. After watching all four starship troopers while sick the other day (think i'll start on the CGI series next ) and seeing as GZG do 6mm Bugs from it, i thought i'd do a little bit of a different one off for my next skirmish 6mm stuff. Got a few bits on order and using the extra of what I had from my ArmorGrid project.

For now though, thought i'd start getting some 6mm scenery made because it's one of the few things my local club seems to lack beyond "turning this 28mm rock into a 6mm mountain". So given my first attempt at making my own, I winged it.

First thought i'd start with something simple. Ok, how about a baricade/ wall?

Ok so I cut my pieces out. It's a little long but ok, not bad so far. Put it together and

Huzzah! Wait....oh that's right, silly me forgot it wouldn't be as tall once at an angle, along with the troops mounted individually on pennies. -__- Well as far as attempts go, it didn't fall apart so i'm counting it as a success. I'll know for next time to plan around things like this and I may just work a way to put some kind of turret into the dipped bit to use as an emplacement, or cut along the top or orc it up and make it look a little more hastily built or something.

Ok got the last of my 6mm (except one tank/for now) based (with additional colourful decorations courtesy of my tiny siblings )

Right, first off reusing the third tank from my hexbased 6mm plus another order of 3 tanks gave me a total of 4. At first seemed a bit much for what I wanted and had an idea. So shortened the barrel and started orking them up a little, idea being the marines are salvaging the old tanks if they can and replacing bits (in this case a pair of flame/chaingun mounts) because it's not like those damn bugs are going to let them wait out more supplies right?

I like one and done games. By which I mean buy a bit, get it looking fine and then it can sit to one side and be played as and when. That's what i'd like for this, 6mm FUBAR skirmish Starship Troopers. GZG's bugs are actually really nice quality at £3 for 12. However I think I may give a go at making some of my own out of greenstuff mostly to see if I can.

Ok bit of a bigger update today.

First up, got one tank and a Not-VOTOMs Count's as Marauder unit done for my 6mm Marines.

Also got my Aragon and Gandalf re-touched up and actually based after having spent the last few months half finished on empty bases.

And finally a bit of something for more 6mm scenery. The hut i'm going to use some filler or no more nails around the outside to smooth it all down. The two radar array things were semi inspired by the desert cooling towers from Star Wars on Tatooine The barricade thing also got a bit more scrap added to it.

Ok i'm on the ball lately. Got two more Gears for my team modeled, still coming up with a team name for them though. Kodiak with dual Heavy Vibro Swords, and a (Head)Hunter with a Fragcannon and Shield

Also got the Bugs Not from Klandathu done. Surprisingly fun and easy to hammer out, theres 12 down at least. Gonna pick up another pack I think minimum at some point. 3 swarms of 8 should be enough for FUBAR anyway.

Been awhile since I posted anything, these at least didn't turn out terribly. They've had a coat of Tamiya smoke since these were taken just to darken them down slightly. All the minis shown are from Brigades Neo-Soviet line.
First up a group shot

Trio of Heavy Tanks

And some MBT's

Support Batteries

Command Vehicles

And then the two Infantry Platoons are largely the same

Not much, and looking back at these the tamiya smoke REALLY makes a difference. Will get the shots of those put up sometime soon maybe. Damn this really is WIP heh.
