Thinking about running a chaos biker unit as a dual purpose light assault/tank hunter unit. So, melta guns & melta bombs for tank hunting are a no brainer, but what is the best weapon to give the champion?

Bearing in mind this guy needs to issue and accept challenges. Do we go with a power weapon? A power axe? A power fist? I think the power fist is probably too slow, but Im having trouble deciding.

Don't get him anything. Use your speed to avoid bad combats. Drive up, melta the crap out of what you need to melta, then charge something squishy. Don't assault a squad where your Sarge is going to have to eat a powerfist.

The best possible weapon for a biker champ...is a power lance. You should 100% always get the charge off for the +1 str, you don't have the wounds to go with an axe or fist and survive to swing, and since your superior movement means you pick your fights, you aren't tussling with things that will give you many problems past the first round of combat.

I've modelled up a power lance onto a new biker model, I'm very keen to see if it works out. He's got melta bombs and he's in a squad of seven bikers altogether, so I have high hopes.

Converted him from a brand new biker box that I picked up on the local version of eBay for about two or three dollars US

I splurged the 30 points for both a P-fist and a Lightning claw.

You get the +1 attack, giving you four attacks on the charge, you also have the tools to kill most anything. Since I also run MOS with the IOE, he is rocking the I5 and FNP.

I run a unit of 6 bikes with two melta guns and its amazing how ofen the meltas wiff and you need to charge in to get things done with the P-fist.

Well, i was going to post nothing but bp and ccw but now I want to try out a power lance >.< guess im proxying one next game.

Good call. The biker unit are thousand sons modelled to be on discs instead of bikes, & they all have GK style halberds anyway, so a power lance even fits thematically.
