Say I have 3 vehicles in the squad. 1 gets immobilized. The other 2 can leave it behind. My question is : Do the 2 vehicles that leave need to stay together, or can they go in separate directions?
thanks in advance.

Only the Immobilised vehicle is abandoned. This doesn't allow the other two to separate, they're still in a squadron.

You would have a squadron of 2, and a single unit vehicle.

Do they have to leave? Or can the skimmers opt to stay in formation with their immobilized brother?

I think they have to separate but I'm not 100% on that.
