So I recently was talking to my local hobby shop owner about starting up a kill team tourney and I wanted to start A thread of the craziest, funniest, or most competitive lists! So far I have had the idea of four thunder wolves! Then another list most won't know about ( because it is forgeworld wich is allowed) five killa kanz with big shootas. It's from the dread mob book so they Are fast attack. I feel like that would be a rough one. So lets see what everyone can do!

Does the kill team tourney allow armor value?
If so, go for the killa kanz and a bunch of cheap gretchin.

Fliers are not allowed in kill team plus it would only be one haha. Yeah I figured 5 kanz would be pretty rough, my buddy does seven plagues with two plasmas. That too is a tough list.

Any idea what could be the best that Grey Knights can bring?

Otherwise, how about some wraiths?

They're not the best, but I like to switch it up between:
6 purifiers
A Paladin and an Eversor (it's like a buddy cop movie, but they keep dying instead)
a Death Cult Assassin + Crusader blob (well, really there are a lot of combinations of henchmen you could put in here. such as...)
the Weak marines! A few power armoured warrior acolytes with either dual plasma pistols or dual power fists. 64 points for t3 s6 i1 in power armour? Sign me up! Plasma pistol variants are only 44 points. I recommend 2 pistoliers and a fister, and then 48 points of better choices. edit: forgot they were also ws3 bs3!

The full rules, including the new April update are available here:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=3500001&aId=26200004a

Essentially, you must now take at least 3 models, with no more than 3 wounds (aka the Doom of Malan'tai and Riptides are banned). Anyone who's played Kill Team against them knows why - Riptides with free FNP can concede a maximum of 14 VP and are nigh unkillable; the Doom is insane when you give it eternal warrior.

That still leaves scope for some silly things. Take the humble Ghost Ark with 6 warriors. Give the ghost ark shrouded and all of a sudden you're facing an AV13 vehicle with a 3+ cover save if it moves at all. Combine that with the ability to kill special weapons fairly easily and you have a very scary list.

I have had decent success running warrior acolytes with power armor and odd mixed and match load outs, I would say try it out! Also thank you for the link Eyjio helps us all out, that ghost ark would be brutal.

Really good idea, guys. Very excited about this.

Our FLGS might do a Kill Team campaign, too, with the new official rules.

4 Thunder Wolves sound pretty cool and effective.

The Dread Mob Forgeworld List is very clever. Unfortunately:

Rules from Forge World’s productions are not in use at Kill Team. However, you may use the models where they
appropriately represent a Codex entry (eg. Contemptor Dreadnought as a Dreadnought, of Death Korps of Krieg as
Imperial Guardsmen).

I had similar ideas, too, like using Grot Tanks, like Dakkamite said. Alas, no.

This is unless, of course, your FLGS house ruled FW stuff is ok.

Sadly, Killa Kanz aren't because they're either Heavy or using a FW book.

Armour Value things are allowed, yes. As are Dedicated Transports.

So let's say you want a Battlewagon, which is a Heavy Slot.

You can do this with Nobs + Dedicated Transport: Battlewagon.

---

But lots of Gretchen looks like a good strategy, actually.

Ghost Ark with 6 Warriors sound really competitive.

I thought of 5 Loyalist Terminators (200 pts exactly).

But Broly's Chaos Termies are even more versatile, I like that a lot.

My personal idea? 6 Wolf Guard with power armour/special weapons in a Razorback.

But now I'm thinking of Ghost Ark with 6 Warriors as a superior version of that.

I do 10 DC and it always does well. One with PE, one with Fleet, and one with Move Through Cover.

28 Sniper Kroot would be cool too.

I've really been enjoying Kill Team with the new restrictions actually, my fiancée no longer kicks my ass every time we play (seriously though, how do you deal with a Doom in a terrain heavy map?!) So, here's basically my working knowledge:

  • Single tough model+chaff lists don't work at all. They kill your chaff and force a break test. The best list I've tried like this was 3 scarabs and a Triarch Stalker. The problem is when you face S6+, you give the enemy a lot of VP and have a good chance of losing because those 3 scarabs are the only things they can shoot at.

  • The new FAQ thing makes Necrons hilarious. Even an otherwise meh list like 9 Gauss Immortals and 3 scarabs is really quite tough because the 9 Immortals have faux-FNP. It might not seem like much, but it increases the expected amount of bolter shots (assuming BS4) to kill one [list]Immortal from 9 to 13.5 - 50% more. In terms of IG lasguns you go from 18 to 27. Surprisingly resilient and impossible to kill all the anti-tank in one swoop.

  • Assault is still meh. It's great to kill one thing but if the enemy outnumbers you 2-1 (as they usually will if you're going full assault) then you are in for a rough ride crossing the board and then another tough time going into a new combat. Thunderwolves work only because they're so tough. [list]Wraiths barely work at all because 30 Ork Boyz lists will tear you to pieces before you can do anything with your 5 guys.

  • Multi wound models are great, as long as they do good stuff. Tyranids in particular can field some nasty stuff when they get the chance to give things Eternal Warrior.

  • Lots of bodies does not necessarily make a good list. You need a lot of wounds, but if you're taking 25 guardsmen then you should be aware that you will almost certainly be taking break tests on rubbish leadership. Plus, most of them won't do anything so when the opponent takes out your special weapons (which is very easy to do being as they're all individual units when you're shooting at them) you may as well just concede.

  • Likewise, if you don't have enough shooting to deal with enemies then you're doomed. You can and will run into people running 5 Deathmark, 7 scarabs lists with a total of 26 wounds. You can and will run into 30 Ork Boyz. If you cannot stop them before they hit you and you cannot survive them hitting you, you have lost before you've started.

  • Blast weapons are still great - if you force people to spread out, you force them out of cover from some angles and you can cover a lot of angles when you're controlling 15ish models individually.

  • Special weapons are weak. You want all your models to be an equal threat - there is no such thing as a disposable wound in Kill team. If your plan to deal with the Ghost Ark list is one meltagun then when they go down (and they will) you lose. Make those specialists count.

Love these tips! I really have noticed with running 30 boyZ that assult is where I was weak. There shooting is really great, I have a lot of luck with it. Also wanted to ask. Say I have two boyz charge a marine. The space marine hits first. Say he does two wounds (maybe he's a grey hunter xD ) do those go to both of my boyz? Or just one model?

I really want to try one team of Stealth suits (super fluffy for a kill team list) 3 regular suits, one Shas'vre with drone controller and two gun drones, and one guy with fusion blaster and Advanced targeting array

I'd also like to try out new pathfinders in kill team. I feel like 6 guys, one with a rail rifle, recon drone, in a devil fish with SMS and black sun filter would be pretty awesome.

I dunno, just a couple thoughts
