This event struck home hard for me. I've been deployed to Manas multiple times, with about a year total time on station. I've briefed these crews thousands of times on these flights. It's extremely possible that I knew these people.
Yesterday some witnesses reported seeing a parachute, which is a good sign that someone got out of the aircraft alive. Thankfully the springs are usually really good weather wise, cause had it been winter time that person most likely wouldn't have survived anyways. I hope they can find the third crew member soon.
People don't usually think about the support elements of our military, and the risks that even they entail. These guys were flying a 55 year old jet, loaded with 60 tonnes of jet fuel. Any type of mishap... this is usually the result. There are some pictures scattered around the internet of the wreckage if you want to find them. It's not pretty.
