Just for tournament wise would Chaos Hounds be acceptable? I mean they are on the same base, both are hounds, and if needed can be added with spiky bits and a collar as thats the only war gear they have.

I love this unit but donr particularly love them enough to spend $100 ON 10 models... I honestly dont think its too much of a stretch

Well, How long is a piece of string?

This is not something we can really answer, as it will depend on your opponent, or the Tournament Organizer.

It is best to check with them to get an answer.

It'll always come down to your individual opponents or your event organiser.

If I was standing on the opposite side of the table to you, I'd be totally fine with this sort of thing. They are big dogs, and they can't be confused with anything else in the list.

Yup. If they're the right size, on the same base, and can't be confused with some other unit in your list, 99% of the time you're fine. It does come down to the TO's call, though. I have heard (rarely) of events which want every unit to use the official models, but it's extremely rare, IME.

I would recommend painting them in reds or some other vivid color to make it clear that they're daemons, not in a naturalistic fur scheme.

I recomend Collars, if you have the skill, as that is the only piece of wargear. anything else is just claws and teeth. but as was said, ask your TO.

I will be using dire wolves as mine with a hint of Nurgle GS added as they will be the only non Nurgle unit in one of my lists so might as well make em look the part.. and the fact you can get 20 of them for the same price as you would pay for 5 of the actual models which IMO are not that great looking.

I think you can contact TO's before hand can't you to ask if its allowed?

Why not use Dire Wolves for nurgle ones? They're all rotten and decaying anyway

Good call, I was going to use the warhounds as flesh hounds but the dire wolves might be a better bet as they are a little better looking then the warhounds

For the cost difference it is pretty big, I can get 10 direwolves from a retailer for 12.20, or 5 flesh hounds for 18.8 so 37.6 for ten!

I'm working on 40 Chaos Warhounds (as Flesh Hounds) myself, so I hope it's not a problem! But really, same base size, very similar models...99% of your opponents won't know the difference, and 99% of tournaments will not care.

The other option is to buy Flesh Hounds at full retail...which, given the cost comparison, is not really an option.

I'm pretty sure that unless your opponent also plays daemons they won't know the difference.

I have just bought 10 warhounds and 10 dire wolves to use as flesh hounds, bit of a size difference between the wolves and the hounds but havent got a fleshhound to compare the size to, now to order 20 biker bases!

In my opinion considering the bases of other beasts it would be better to stick them on 40mm rounds, this based on looking at other beast kits are also are on 40's for most.

I kept mine on the horse bases. For one thing, I don't believe Flesh Hounds come with anything but square bases... Biker bases are the closest thing, and are better suited to 40k, but they're also considerably longer than horse bases. I tried putting one Warhound on a biker base and he looked like he was surfing.

I'd love to have them on 40mms -- that would probably look best, IMO -- but I think that's where you could run into legitimate problems with a TO or opponent. Plus the unit's footprint gets huuuge.

That's wat a few friends and a GW employee suggested to me and if they ever get redone they might come with 40's then. Also i got a box of oop chaos hounds that im going to use as fleshies came with 10 40mm''s.

I did end up doing the biker bases as went for resin ones, it is the closet thing to the cavalry bases so will do for now!. I got resin scenic ones with rocks on as I wanted to raise up some of the warhounds I hope its worked.
