Subject: Imperial Guard Special Rules, and what do they do?

Hi,
I'm starting to play a allied detachment of guard with my smerfs and trying to experiment with different load outs. However I still don't understand what some of them do or how to use them. Below is most of them ythat I would like to know;
First rank! Second rank fire!-I believe that this is a shooting special rule but how do you use it, why and how often?
Orders-do these have to be issued every turn and is it to allow that squad to shoot. I've herd that if both squads have a vox-caster they can re-roll? Or automatic pass? Once again how do you use it and how often?
And for IC;
Commissar Lord:
Summary Execution-is this when the Commissar executes any member of the squad to re-roll the morale test? Or for something else. How often can I do this as one a game, one a turn, keep doing it till the whole squad is dead?
Aura of Discipline-I've heard that this gives any squad (or member?) LD 10 for that turn i.e the Commissar LD, can I do this every turn or once a game? Can I give it the the Commissar instead?
Refractor Field-I really have no idea what this is.
Hope that this makes sense. Please feel free to PM me the answers if the mods prefer not to have to posted publicly.
HAZZER.

You need to grab the Imperial Guard codex and look those things up.

I know, but I want to try them out and decide if they are for my playing-style before I spend £20 on a guard codex that will be updated next year anyway.

Alas this is the case.
For things like this it's also worth having a flick through the various tactica, some of those might help out and provide some insight.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
