Subject: Thin/needle tip super glue?
|
 |
Jealous that Horus is Warmaster

Hey guys, im in a bit of a dillema :( All the super glue I have come in bottles with applicator tips too large for fine gluing. To solve this I have been squeezing out glue onto a pallet and applying it with a small paper clip. I was watching one of buypainted's youtube videos and I saw him using a very thin, metal tipped glue applicator. I searched eBay, my local staples, and a couple craft stores and none of them seem to have it. Would anyone know where to find any? For reference, the bottle that buypainted uses looks like the one in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPeDUy9Lzvs
Thanks in advance

The blue and yellow bottle is revell but its plastic glue not super glue
i dont think you can get super glue with that kind of nozzle, it would dry up and block the nozzle after very few uses

Ah I see. Thank you very much this should be great. Do you know of any US based sellers of this glue? A quick search reveals only UK based sellers, but if it comes down to it im willing to pay extra for this glue, looks like just what I need

Its hard to get over here in the US.. But testors makes a set of glues like this one with the micro tip applicator also.. Another thing to look at is tips for your super glue.. There is teflon tips you can use that will give you a small applicator also.. Check out www.towerhobbies.com

The bondene looks hard to use, since its in a bottle. How do you go about applying it to thin surfaces?

With the applicator brush.. There is a learning curve to using it, but With plastic models of any size I only use it.. If I need a smaller applicator I use a paper clip dipped in it, although I dont need to do this to often..

A tip for all revell users - if the tip gets blocked, hold it over a flame for a few seconds - this burns out all the glue that's set in the tip. leave to cool for a minute or so before using again.
Re superglue, a company Deluxe does tips that fit on any standard superglue bottle - called micro tips & tubes - http://www.alwayshobbies.com/materials/adhesives-$4-fillers/adhesives/applicators/deluxe-materials-micro-tips-and-tubing

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!! |

For the micro tips, would they clog after a few uses of superglue?
