Hey Dakka, my attempt at a supercompetitive Ork list.

After playing two games against Hellturkeys and two more against Vendettas I've finally relented and let the Dakkajet into my lists.

Let me know what you think!

Big Mek, KFF, Cybork

Shoota Boy Blob w/ 30 boys, 3x Big Shoota
Shoota Boy Blob w/ 30 boys, 3x Big Shoota
Gretchin Mob, 23 Grots and 2x Runtherd

Dakkajet w/ Extra Shoota, Fighta Ace
Dakkajet w/ Extra Shoota, Fighta Ace

3x Big Trak w/ Armour Plates, 2x Big Shoota, Supa-Kannon
3x Big Trak w/ Armour Plates, 2x Big Shoota, Supa-Kannon
Front AV 12, Supa Kannons are 60" S9 AP3, Large Blast Ordinance

Aegis Defense Line, Lascannon Mount

The Strategy here is to put the Big Traks behind the Aegis for cover, and/or bring them in from reserve if the mission allows it.

Grots hide close to the ADL for perfect concealment and fire the Lascannon. Part of the ADL will pass close to my objective if possible so the Grots can hold it easily. Boys and KFF Mek will do what Boys and KFF Meks do best - WAAAAGH onto the central objective and hold it. Big Traks blow gak up. Dakkajets dakka dem hellturkey gits right outta da sky!

Hey Dakka, I just read through your other thread about this list (where you found out how easily maulable squadrons are), and I had a quick question which admittedly doesn't relate to your list in any way.

I saw you say that each of your big trakks cost you 5$ to make not including the dirt cheap guns, and I'm just curious what you used? As opposed to the guy who was making vehicles out of card-board (which is hilarious and awesome) you said you just bought assorted 2$ tanks. I'm making an orks list and am in the same groove of looting some generic action figure vehicles and bitzing them up for cheap, but most of the ones I've found in my local area are 10-12-15$ a pop. Not bad, but not super cheap.

Just curious if you remember what brand you used? Maybe a link to a picture / box / website if you've got any laying around?

Well for starters, the $2 is an approximation into US dollars. It was $3 NZD.

I got them from a two dollar store. They're the cheapest, crappiest tanks you can find. The plastic will probably give you cancer.

Dunno if you guys even have stores like this, but I imagine you do. They're always run by asians and stock heaps of cheap and nasty knockoffs and kids toys. We call them two dollar shops because up until a few years back they never sold anything over $2.

A brand or whatever wouldn't be helpful, trust me on that. They had some engrish name like "Warrior Fighting Tank Force"

Alright, sounds good. xD I was looking through pharmacies (rite aid, walgreens and that ilk) because I remembered playing with action figures from those stores way back in the day; and the vehicles would fit the size for trukks / battlewagons pretty good. I'll be sure to hit up the local dollar store tomorrow to see what they've got.

Appreciate the response, and good luck with your ordinance murder list.

Dakkamite-

The Dakka Jets are incredible for taking out fliers, HOWEVER, they are very fragile. 10s all around make them useful for only one round, especially against shooty armies. They are a lot of fun to play, but IMHO they aren't that competitive. If you're looking for something that will mush some fliers and still be around to take down some CSM, take lootas. For 250 pts you can take a whole squad and still have enough for an extra PK. They can reach more than halfway across the board on Hammer and Anvil/Vanguard Strike deployments and are almost the full spread on Dawn of War. Stick those boys behind the ADL and let them rip. The other benefit of having lootas is that there is no question if they're coming in or not. Also (in case you don't know this yet), do not take the "upgrade" to mek boy. The KMB pales in comparison to the deffgun.

The supa-kannons are a great choice. I've been playing around with those lately myself and I'm pretty sure I won't take another army without one. And, of course, never take foot slogging boys without a KFF. Other than the dakka jets, I'd say a solid army. You may have a few too many grots, but if you get blasted there will still be reserves for your lascannon.

First time I've ever heard anyone say Dakkajets aren't competitive!

I'm trying to avoid Lootas tbh, thats why I relented on the jets. Everyone takes the damn things... one thing to keep in mind that if you take a full squad they cannot GTG behind an Aegis due to being fearless. I've got some games today, and you've talked me into including Lootas. We'll see if I'm not converted after that.

The Grot blob is big so it can both fire the Las and reliably hold the backfield objective. Do you think it could do both if I shrunk it down a bit? Looks like a big risk if I lose that objective in turn six, for not so many points gained back

Those Kannons look so damn good on paper, though today will be my first use of the things. I'm actually worried that it might be one of those must-have weapons, where you can't justify *not* taking nine of the damn things in every competitive build

Like I said about the jets: they're REALLY good at killing stuff, but only for one round. If they get close to some marines, they're pretty much blown out of the sky, especially if they have plasma. I have reliably taken out ... 10? fliers on the turn they come in with the lootas. GTG behind the ADL is nice, but if those turkeys come in with the bale flamers on turn two, you're going to want your full dakka on them. Mull it about and let me know how your games turn out!

The supa-kannons are no joke. Straight up marine killers there. The only downside is the BS, but that's the orks for you.
