The officer in charge of the U.S. Air Force effort to curb sexual assault in the military was arrested over the weekend for allegedly grabbing a woman by the breasts and buttocks in a parking lot not far from the Pentagon, officials said on Monday.

Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Krusinski, 41, was arrested on Sunday and charged with sexual battery after the alleged incident in the Crystal City area of suburban Arlington, Virginia, officials said.

An Arlington County Police spokesman said the woman fended off Krusinski, who was under the influence of alcohol, and when he attempted to grab her a second time she was able to call the police, who arrived a short time later and detained him.

I guarantee you he was at Crystal City Restaurant, one of northern Virginia's remarkably few strip clubs, and where my girlfriend happens to work part time.

Besides the sexual harrassment....its a Alcohol related incident....double whammy.......he's toasted.

Looking at a six month process at most. Unless the evidence so overwhenlming he might was well resign but then he go ciilian court...couple years at Leavenworth break small rocks into little rocks on Thursday is a good start

Not at all suprising. This isn't at all concrete evidence, but the majority of cases that I've heard of throughout my career have come from those in higher ranks (or in positions of authority, like the TI's at Lackland).

I don't know if it does, generally speaking*. I'm having a hard time finding civilian statistics, per year. Just a lot of general numbers out there, but it kind of strikes me that it's similar as civilian numbers.

Maybe someone can find something more concrete. I know the military estimated there was 19,000 sexual assaults in 2012, of which, about 3,800 were reported.

* Any sexual assaults indicate a problem, I just mean it may not be an exceptional problem compaired to other parts of our society.

According to RAINN, there are just over 200,000 sexual assaults in the US per year. That's roughly .07% of the population. If it's 19,000 sexual assaults in the military per year, that's roughly .83% of the military population.

Then there's the cultural problem.

It's a complete and utter disgrace and if he actually said that, he deserves to be kicked out just for saying it, never mind the other crimes. Soldiers who rape other soldiers are the lowest form of bottom-feeding scumsuckers, less-than-worthless pieces of semihuman trash who shame the entire military with their existence.

It is cracking down, they are prosecuting him.

Not sure what else you can ask for. Guy (allegedly) commits crime, gets busted, goes to trial... That is the way it is supposed to work.

I was referring to the attitude, rather than the specific person.

Anyone who expresses the attitude that they can get away with whatever the hell they want because they're high-ranked WILL commit crimes as a result of that attitude.

"Attitude" is not a crime. If some one ACTS on poor morals/bad attitude you hammer them. That is supposed to be a deterrent to others acting in similar manner. At a minimum you demonstrate those actions won't be tolerated and folk with an 'attitude' which may make them more prone to commit those actions either go away on their own, get busted for committing the actions, or keep themselves under control.

As guy with a couple commands under his belt, married to an officer with several (to include a BN command) under her belt, I have fully come to understand you must look at ACTIONS vice 'attitude' if you want to successfully prosecute. Behavior can be modified and or punished, you can almost never control someone's thoughts or 'attitude'. At best you can let it be known that actions associated with that attitude will not be tolerated.

I know it is nit picky, but if you want to be successful you need to be able to frame your arguments in those types of terms or the defense attorneys will kick your ass at the trial.

Along with soldiers who rape civilians of course, I'd argue they're actually worse.

It is hardly a culture Dogma. Over the last decade the military has unbelievably cracked down on this. It got so bad that there were years I was attending "training" that was little more then people screaming at me that I'm a rapist because I'm a guy and I should be castrated (slight exageration on my part).

I'm not a psychologist or anything, but I imagine the high stress life that we live has a lot to do with this, and I doubt that is going to be changing anytime soon. Booze seems to be involved in a lot of these cases as well. There is things that can be done about that, but they'd be difficult to do. There really isn't anything they can do about underage drinking, let alone cracking down on drinking enough to slow the rate of these incidents.

No offense, but pretty much everything you just said is part of the cultural problem. I mean, the "high stress life" excuse is basically what was used to justify wife beating in the 50's.

You're right though, there is very little that can be done, administratively, to correct this sort of behavior. All we can do is impart the notion of "Don't do that." to the youth, something the military should be very good at.

I'm pretty much more of the "Lead, Follow or Get out my way" kind of NCO.....I do so tactfully towards senior NCO's and officers.....junior officers I clamp on right off the bat espacially before a deployment.. The term "I'm a --->whateverrank<--- can do whatever I want" tells me the individual carreer going to end badly.

I started my EO additional duty in the 82nd.....which pretty much started the crack down in the Army starting mid 90's over racial killing. We went after...

1. Extremeist (you were allowed to be passive though)
2. Gangmembers (the Gecko tattoo is a symbol for a extremist gang in Hawaii)
3. DUI/DWI's (carreer stop at E6)
4. Overweight
5. Sexual Harassment
6. Racism

I would add more but pretty much 94 to 2000 the US military cracked down. More so as we were downsizing the the Force to engage on two fronts. Hence ten divisions for the Army and two divisions for the marines...AF and Navy was geared down same....in fact the AF and the Navy kept on down sizing even during OIF and OEF..
