Cool model, was a nice change from the normal size of 28mm stuff. Up for auction, pm me if interested.

Definitely a great paint job! My only complaint is I feel that the OSL is a little over-done. Other than that, definitely a very well-executed finish. I too also like what you have done with the thrusters. Great work!

Smooth work. I like the very level paint job. The lighting effects are brighter than I prefer them, but that's a matter of taste. Good metallics, too.

It is an excellent paint job, but (and this may just be me) it seems like he is falling off of that platform.

Man, everybody has one of these but me. I should get one and figure out just how the hell you painted it this well.

It's really easy to sit back and critique without having any of your skill, so let me start by saying that is an excellent paint job on par with the famous "chrome space marine" But I noticed on major flaw...

Your OSL doesn't appear to be on the proper faces. If it were that bright it would have more of an effect in discoloring the surrounding thruster intakes on either side of the chest as well as a bit of blueing on the gun with a clear shadow from where the light is blocked by each air intake.

Similarly, the OSL on the rear thrusters looks a little choppy, almost like you just took a spray can or an airbrush and just did a solid line. Unfortunately I don't really know how to fix that beyond either decreasing the power of the OSL or add more residual effects to the suit itself. After all, light travels on endlessly as long as there's nothing blocking LOS, so I would think the OSL should at least show up a little on the shoulder plates and such.

I do love the blend you have going throughout the suit though, you really did a great job of giving a nice gradient up and down the suit.

Thanks for all feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

dbsamurai - That is a great critique that really helps me understand things from someone elses perspective and looking at the points you put across, I agree entirely. People should be free to offer constructive criticism, whilst maintaining the balance where you dont just bash some poor buggers work after he/she has sunk hours into it.

Allow me to clarify some points:

The model is not for my display case or competition, there is more to be done to take it to that level, but thats where it stays as its painted for sale and there comes a point where sinking more time is counter productive.

The OSL is over the top. Its not quite as bad in the flesh/plastic, but its overdone. Again, this helps catch the eye of many and thats what it was meant to do.

The base is pretty simplistic but I was trying to get the high tech metal suit into an environment where it looked more at home, thats why I went for the metal grate. If I was taking this model on a bit more id have detailed it out with cables and more damage to the flat areas to break it up. Looking at the angle its at and considering comments about it looking like its falling, yeah, I can see that from certain angles. My bad.

Thanks again for your comments.

I think the model is very well done. I'm not a fan of OSL but I certainly see the reason you went with it and given your explanation it is well executed. Nice!

Edited to add: On a closer look, I think the multi-barreled weapon could benefit from greater contrast. Same for the joints on the lower legs. Yes, nitpickery!

Your pictures are kind of blury. At any rate I like him. The OSL is way too much for me and his pose is weak but you did a good job. the models colors really flow well into each other, especially the blacks and metalics.

Overall the painting is quite well done. I'm not the biggest fan of your OSL usage, but it's painted well so it fixes itself there.

The only thing I dislike is the pose. It looks rather awkward, as if it isn't sure how it is going to react to whatever it is that it is focused on. This could be fixed greatly just by better arm posing. Right now, they look stuck in an unusual position where a more fluid arm pose (both down, or shield down and weapon up to the sky to fire) would have given the model much more credit.

Overall though, great job.

Very nice. Only thing I would say is about the base. While the metal grating looks really good the plain black underneath could maybe have something done with it.

Overall though very nice looking riptide. Best I have seen so far
