I love the Idea of allies, but the current allie matrix is just dreadful and makes almost no sense fluffwise (Why would the inquisition ever allie with anyone?)...
Due to this, me and my gaming group were planning on re-doing the allie matrix to make it more logical, and I was hoping that everyone would give their two cents to how it should be changed.

My biggest problem with the Allie matrix:
Tau should be BB with IG, not with SM. They even have a fluffy name for the human troops, ffs!

Let the Apocalypse come, more likely. Orks always caused problems for the Tau, and even they gave up from trying to do stuff the "good way" with them.
Also Eldar shouldn't be BB with anything besides Dark Eldar. I swear they see everything as a potential toy to be played with. Freakin' eldar shenanigans. DE are probably the only ones that won't fall for that (for those rare ocasions when they do team up)

Really, one could come up with a reason for IG being BB with anyone. I mean, pretty much every army has used human soldiers/slaves/meatshields at some point which is what the IG sum up

Okay, yeah crons would be an issue.
With Orks I guess you could say an Imperial Officer payed off a group of Orks to fight (I mean, I don't think the Orks would care who they fight just as long as they fight). Probably wouldn't be BB though, but it's still a thought.

Don't forget Tyranids. Not fair that everyone gets an extra HQ, Troop choice and maybe an Elite, FA or HS.
Tyranids ally with them selves or at least, ally with others, call it mind war, or leeches controlling them, like in Star Trek, season 1.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I would suggest most other armies could easily ally with IG, and then IG can easily ally with Imperial Forces.
No reason things have to be symmetrical, and I think it would help reflect fluff a lot easier.

If you look at the allies matrix from a mechanics view, you can see that it was likely set up the way it is to allow access to most of the different BRB psychic disciplines for each army.
And I guess it is a personal preference thing but fluffwise it doesn't leave me too wanting. My only problem is Grey Knights can't ally with Chaos Space Marines so no jolly cooperation between Ahriman and Draigo to hunt down some Nurgle daemons :(
