Hey dakka, Flash Gitz starred in a recent fun game of mine and were surprisingly killy. Biker Nobs look like they could be a damn good unit. I hear great things about MANz, and footsloggin Nobs look super cool though I'm not sure about their effectiveness. All this has come together to reawaken my dream of a Nobz only army.

Why? Cuz Nobz are cool, and I can make an easily portable army of 40 dudes or whatever, and put in a huge amount of time and effort for building and painting them - instead of carrying enormous boxes of mass painted boyz and vehicle fleets.

Wondering if any kind hearted Warboss could help me to make an all/mostly Nob list that would be competitive. Competitive play is definitely second to casual for me, but I do find myself up against the occasional powerbuilder and I'd like to be able to hand them their ass if at all possible.

I don't mind fielding a few Grots (no self respektin Nob would sit on an objective after all!), Big Gunz/Aegis, some vehicles (Big Trak + Supa Kannon or battlewagons come to mind), maybe some deffkoptas though I'm starting to lose faith in their tankbusting abilities. If Nobs-only doesn't work, got no problem fielding a few of the more elite boys - Burna Boyz, Kommandos, and so on. I'm also not opposed to Necron or Chaos Space Marine allies, was thinking of throwing in a few Heavy Destroyers or something.

I like to have one really killy team of nobz in a trukk. But they do cost a ton of points, and a lot of things can easily kill a trukk.

I've always wondered if running 2+ transports per unit would work? That way the second Trukk, or a Big Trakk or whatever, could come and pick your guys up if the first one gets trashed.

I don't actually believe that is legal at all.

I think you've confused "transports" with "dedicated transports" there man.

I could bring 9 Big Trakks and so have nine 'extra transports' able to carry 12 dudes each. Just use them to ferry a couple of really strong units up the field or something, rather than nine seperate units.

The only Nob only lists I've seen are either Double BikerNobz or 5 mobs for an 8 Battlewagon list. Should be easier to run more BW's at 2000+ now with double FOC.

At 1850 I run 10 BikerNobz and 5 MegaNobz and while not the majority in models on the board they are (with their accompanying HQ's) the Majority of the points.

Fighting crime in a future time!

Once the trukk pops, all heavy artillery will be aiming at the nobs, just because it can kill 30+ points per wound. There won't be anything left to pick up - not to mention the effort and/or money you have to put into building nine big trakks.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

If you have those, I'd much rather make them carry supa-kannons than attempt to get a nobz unit anywhere. If you really want regular nobz, pick a battlewagon to carry them.

A trukk is best filled with small units of MANz, so you don't lose much when the trukk is stopped early, but cause a lot of damage if it isn't.
