What in your own opinion is the best zombie based tabletop game out there? After all everybody loves zombies and many would love to know which is the best game to represent the whole classic survivors banding together (and sometimes not) to fight or survive the undead hordes. The best should encompass all that is good about rpg and zombie outbreaks. The situations, the players choices, the survival, the locations...
This can include any kind of game played tabletop so minatures, stand alones, card games. As long as its played with more than 1 player and on a table.

So what Is the best?

If you like Zombie games, they both have a place on your shelf. Zombies!!! is IMO the better game but it's not cooperative. I actually think that's a big part of what edges it into first place over Zombicide (in the Zombie Apocalypse, other survivors are the most dangerous enemies) but I do enjoy cooperative boardgames. Unfortunately, I found Zombicide a tad too easy to justify its many rules. Zombies!!! has a cleaner, faster design.

Agreed, Zombies!!! is a nice and quick arcade-like game that really works for me: Light on rules, fast to pick up and play.

Zombicide is great for arcade type play, Zombies!!! is fun but a little too simple for me.
I'd say Last Night on Earth. I think it knocks it out of the park when it comes to creating a thematic and immersive experience.

Agreeing with these two. Last Night on Earth is simple enough even my mother likes to play. When I'm with my friends for board game nights, it regularly makes its way to the table since it's so easy to pick up and go.

Gotta go with the above three
Last night on earth is fantastic

It's a coop board game and like the previous folk stated it's really simple to use.
Though the cards are hard plastic and annoying to shuffle (That's the worst problem the game has, which as problems go is a good one to have as your worst).

The game is also really balanced, it provides a lot of fun for both teams.
Sometimes as a zombie player you feel there are some useless cards but I'm not sure if that is because I play with a lot of power gamers who can keep track of what cards I've received and thereby work out what the chances of me having certain cards are.

On the note of power gamers :p their is a card game called munckin which has a zombie version of it, that is a lot of fun as well

So you think you're tough, eh?

Yeah, Munchkin is a good bit of light fun. I've picked up the Zombie version but haven't played it yet.

I would have to say Zombies!!! by Twilight creations. It is moderately fast paced and rather easy to understand the rules.

Zombicide over Zombies!!! because it is cooperative rather than adversarial.

Zombicide, win or lose, if time allows I always want to try another scenario, or a different survivor combo, etc...

Zombies!!! is a great game, but after one game, win or lose, I'm done.

There is also Zombie Plague and All Things Zombie. Both great games, but I haven't touched either since I got my hands on Zombicide.

Zombies!!! works as a Monopoly/Sorry! replacement due to the 'screw your neighbor' mechanics.

Zombicide I find harder to pitch to the uninitiated.

Different tonics for different itches, but I prefer Zombicide overall.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Twilight Creations' Zombies!!! is the best zombie board game out there. It is sufficiently inexpensive, very efficient in the rules, and damn fun!

Last night on Earth for the story and experience.

Zombicide for the shoot 'em up arcade style gameplay.

There's always Zpocalypse if you want a game that you aren't likely to ever actually win. You'll struggle with it, possibly get radiation sickness, lose your experienced survivors and end up having your once safe haven overrun with the living dead because you didn't leave any weapons stockpiled there for your last few survivors to defend themselves.

Shame the game's rules are a bit confusing.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I saw this at my LGS this past weekend and kind of want it -- if only for the radiation-laden nature of it ...

Their site lists it as only available for preorder?

Edit: but Amazon has it as available.

Zpocalypse just had its bling add on kickstarter too... replaced a bunch of tokens with actual barricades, walls, gates, and watch towers.

For those of you that have a plethora of zombie games, what makes Zombies! worth owning?

I see people continue to recommend it- what's it have that the other games don't?

In a word, elegance. The heart of the zombie genre lies in exposing living, "regular" people as scarier than the undead. Zombies!!! uses extremely simple mechanics to emulate that principle. Namely, as a player you are trying to get yourself to safety while making things more dangerous for everyone else. I really like cooperative games but no coop mechanic I have yet seen really does the zombie genre justice. Zombicide, for example, could just as easily trade its zombies for orcs and be Orcicide.

Yeah, my friends and I have house ruled some scenarios for Last Night on Earth which have two groups of survivors and a zombie player - it's a ton of fun. We've played it both where the survivor groups are actively hostile, and where they are only incidentally hostile - they can lock doors and barricade other survivors out while competing for limited resources. Came up with it when we had seven people who wanted to play, so it was 3v3vZ, and we did a larger board area. Only played it that way that one time because it's tough getting a bunch of people together, but it was pretty awesome.

My favorite was the incidentally hostile - we set it up so you could use one of your moves to trip another survivor in your square and reduce their next move roll to a D3, and if you rolled to kill a zombie in a fight, you could choose to push it one square onto another survivor if you wanted.

Dead walk again is a free miniatures rules set, its pretty good I also just started playing all things zombie which i like but it can at times be complicated if you don't read the rules a couple times but the yahoo group is very helpful when questions may arise i also heard zombie a go go is supposed to be good i just ordered thoses rules. if your into gang warfar there is also new world disorder which has a supplement to run zombies against the gangs think of the game like necromunda, you spend points in constucting your gang and battle each other then throw in some zombies
