Hi

Basically, someone pointed out that spells in 6th edition should have a price (in points) that reflects how good they are. And I thought to myself: that seems like a damn good idea!

Now I'm sure someone has said this before but Im curious what you guys think is the appropriate points cost for each of the rulebook spells. I have played 6th edition for a while now to understand that for eg. some of the divination or biomancy spells would be more expensive than others. Feel free to post your ideas below!

since it's randomized, that wouldn't work. That's my idea.

And then people would buy the best spells exclusively, making all the other choices meaningless. A Tervigon that might get Iron Arm is fearsome, one that is 100% guaranteed to have it is insane.

Ok, how about this. So it wont get overpowered, what if you would pay for a spell tree instead of just getting one for free? Or they could just change the bad powers and make them more interesting...

It just sounded like a good idea because I'm tired of the same old every game

I would not pay for specific spells (GUO with IA means my Opp cries) - you would have to give powers a cost based on who is taking them - WAY to much figuring

Now, what I COULD see, is paying for access to an entire group. For instance, if Eldar could pick Divination, Bio, or Pyro - it costs X for Div, Y for Bio and Z for Pyro due to the usefulness to the army as a whole. Now, this would just be the ability to choose that list to roll on. If you don't buy it, then you can't choose it.

this would do a couple things: Make sure that people pick the list BEFORE the game is set up and would also make people pay for more powerful lists (since it seems like certain lists are the Go-To for an army)

For GK the go-to spell is even a primaris power. But to be fair, the divination primaris is fantastic for anyone with a gun.

But it's like with anything else. Even if something is just 1% better than everything else (and something will be) then that will be a favourite pick.
That's why in MMO's you'll be able to buy the second best stuff for a fraction of the cost of the best stuff. Everyone wants the best, even if it's such a ridiculously small difference that it is barely noticable.

That's how it was in 4th with a lot of psychic powers. I'm fine with the randomized ones; means there's a little more variety of psychic powers in the game instead of the same 2-3 over and over again in every army.
