hey Dakka people...
i'm surprised that this hasn't made the news, but Talisman came out last week for iPad and iPhone...
$4.99 on the iTunes store...

i played a bit this afternoon...
quite fun, and a fair price...

there are 10 characters to unlock, and five quests for each...
each character has different abilities, and alignment...
no in-game purchases needed...
single player for now, and multi-player is due this summer...

gameplay is good...
graphics are nice (the virtual minis look cool)...

rolling virtual dice is fun...
i've unlocked the first eight characters already (the Dwarf is my favorite)...
we'll see how it goes as i continue on, but no bugs or gliches so far...

now i'm just waiting for Warhammer Quest and Space Hulk...
Quest is late:(, but i've been playing the hell out of Hunters 1 & 2 and really enjoying it, so it should be a good game...

go have a look on iTunes...

cheers
jah

I've been playing it a bit as well. Not bad, although it seems it should really shine when they implement multiplayer. Hopefully, they'll make it online and/or local multiplayer.

Agreed with you both. I was having a nice little blast with it, but can't wait till its got the multi implemented. Will be great for road trips.

Dunno. We're getting it from iTunes so it looks like iPad/iPhone only. Not even sure you can play it on the Mac.

I DL it today, its a lot of fun, although the draw deck is perhaps a little limited with the same cards appearing too often for my tastes although i would that will change as i progress through the different characters quests.

Well worth the £3 i paid though and has actually refined my understanding of a few rules here and there!

I loved that game as a kid, so I am looking forward to playing it whilst I am at work.... umm I mean at home

We are pleased to announce that we have streamlined the miniature collecting process. For a large sum of money we will simply give you an empty box with an exciting picture of a Space Marine on the front.

We call this the "You won't get round to painting it anyway" scheme.

Alright. I swore I was never giving GW another penny. Damn! The game is fun, and it's phone compatible also. That makes it even better!

It's fun for the first 5-6 characters, but it gets old pretty quickly. Maybe I'm just obsessive about getting full marks for each level, but the randomness is pretty limiting. And once you've explored the board a few times, you're just waiting for key cards to come up so you can finish your mission.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

In case anyone was wondering, I did go trough all missions with 3 stars - had to replay a few missions but most were pretty easy. Once all missions were unlocked*, a new mission popped for all characters, which is the standard "Get the Crown of Command" mission from the standard game. (Nothing new, not even a congratulations or credits screen, once you get the crown with all 10).

* Might need 3 stars on all missions, can't say for sure since I replayed all missions until I had 3 and got 3 stars on my first pass trough the Priestess' last mission...

I reckon the best way to get the 3 stars for all missions has gotta be the clairvoyant card. Being able to always reroll your movement is a great help
