Just a quick list I threw together for a game I am playing saturday. Taking a footslog, didn't bring more elites or heavy because we're doing double orks at the LGS and didn't want to fill up our FO

HQ
Big Mek w/ Shokk Attack

Troops

20 Shoota Boys
- 2 Big Shootas
- Power Klaw Boss Pole Nob

20 Slugga Boys
-Power Klaw Boss Pole Nob

20 Slugga Boys
-Power Klaw Boss Pole Nob

Elite

15 Lootas

Heavy

Killa Kansx3 w/ Grotzooka & DCCW

I was iffy on bringing my Killa kans for the footslog, but I just love these guys even if I am only taking 1 squad of them. I almost always have a squadron of them making up their points cost anytime I take them in the sheer amount of shots they take as a distraction and damage they can dish out to enemy vehicles/squads that are foolish enough to get in range.

Slugga Boyz, Killa Kans, SAG

I like your style man.

IMO Sluggas should be taken in big mobs, and bosspoles are definitely no substitute for numbers. You can put Big Shootas on Nobs - definitely do this in the Shoota Mob, and its worth getting one for each Slugga Mob. The Nobs, being characters, then get precision strikes and can allocate 50% of their hits (the 6s) onto any model they like.

PK Nobs though, I reckon they're overrated. Definitely overrated on the shoota mob if not the Sluggas.

You should also definitely consider a KFF to keep your boys alive on the way to the fight, or if not that, a screen of Grots to eat bullets for you (unless of course, your already using the Kans for that). Since your running 20-mobs anyway, consider allying in Codex: Dread Mob to get a Painboss (IC Painboy, same cost and stats, can attach him to your boys). Just change the name of one 20-Boys Mob to "Spanna Boys" and remove all their gear and Nob leader, to get the required allied troop choice.

Boys with KFF/cover and FNP... man, thats some seriously tough stuff.

Or of course, theres always double or even triple SAG (with Dread Mob) if your that way inclined

I'll probably drop the PK in the shoota squad, its a habit from 5th edition to bring PKs in all my mobs.

I've got a KFF...but the little bugger seems to have stashed himself and my original shokk attack gun during my move. I ordered in a new Shokk but haven't converted one of the AOBR Nobs over yet for a new KFF. Codexread is Forgeworld right? Don't see much of FW in these parts sadly so never really looked into them much besides cool modeling options for my orks.(I tend to convert a lot, so love the bits they have, kind of like Kromlech!)

As to Grots, yeah I usually use the kans as a bullet shield for the boys, my local group always seems to love to try to shoot the crap out of them, despite my AV11 managing to typically survive to get at least some grotzooka blasts or a DCCW on some poor parked tank. They really love to blast my SAG into next century though, which is why I keep him as cheap as possible.(Fingers crossed, I've only rolled snake eyes once with him.)
