Not counting all the wierd colonisation wars how many times has Terra been attacked directly. I know of 2:
1. When Horus and the other traitor legions attacked
2. When The Beast attacked with many ork tribes.

I didn't realise The Beast had attacked it...
There was also another time during the Apostate Heresy or some such when Sebastian Thor was rockin' about.
Several dozen SM chapters and the Adeptus Mechanicus helped put down the crazy dictator chappie. After that the Ecclesiarchy and the Munitorum were separated and the Sisters were formed for the Ecclesiarchy to have a militant arm since they were banned after that little soiree from having 'men under arms'.

That's the chappie.
I always get him confused with Bucharis who was shortly after and a lot smaller in scale.

Yeah...
I mean it's a silly place to invade from the get go let alone when you have the damned Space Wolves based there...
That said the ending of that was always rather strange.

It hasn't really, in old Necron fluff some of their ships got to Mars, it was unknown what their intentions were but the Imperium was surprised as they were undetected up until the last moment.

Would you be able to post the quote for the Orks reaching Terra? I didn't get the impression they necessarily got that far. Just that the Beast was stopped only at great cost to the Adeptus Astartes (and presumably the Imperial Guard and Navy among other military organisations).

BRB only says that: ''their widespread advances are only halted when the Imperium resorts to the most extreme measures, at great cost to the Adeptus Astartes.'' No mention of any location of origin or ending in the BRB, maybe its mentioned in the codex?

Edit: Also, what do you guys think of the beheading in 546.M32? Seems like an assault on Terra to take out Vangorich, due to the fact of him having a seat on the High Lords on Terra.

The tyranids are slowly moving to terra aren't they? They would give the imperials a run for their money. If I were the emperor I would stock up on bug spray and mosquito nets!!!

Just Terra planet or the Terra Sol System? Terra proper not much as after 30K they made it into a solar system wide fortress.

If the Terra-Sol system then pluto was attacked by the Lords of Decay who actually manage to defeat a Adeptus Custodes.

No there is another passage that I think states that the beast reached Terra as I sad I will see if I can find it but it's 00:01 here in the Uk...

Im still looking, but the only other reference I can find is in the Ork bit, which states: '''The Warboss known only as the Beast nearly took over the galaxy, and it can only be a matter of time before another apocalyptic greenskin rising takes place.'' Again no mention of any location. Ill await your own search, but I cant seem to find it.

There's page 168 the 7th paragraph hints at it but that's not the one I'm thinking of, there is another bit I'm still looking for that actually said he besieged Terra.

You mean that plague marine that vomited on him, which basically killed his body

Btw where can that reference be found ?

Seige of Pluto (in the Siege of Vraks books) (Please don't ask me which one, I had to google to find the quote as they are fairly long, packed to the gills, and 3 books)

Battle of Pluto (Unknown Date.M41) - This event was recorded by the Chaos Lord Typhus, the former First Captain of the Death Guard Traitor Legion and the Herald of Nurgle, who was present aboard his flagship, the Chaos Battleship Terminus Est, which was overseeing the battle from orbit. Over Pluto, the Lords of Decay and several other fleets of allied Nurgleite Chaos Space Marines broke out of the Warp and quickly dispatched the nearby merchant ships. They quickly descended to the surface of Pluto where the Chaos Lord Festernius unleashed a plague of nitrogen-fixing bacteria that turned all of the nitrogen storage cisterns present on the planet for Imperial industrial use into toxic ammonia deposits. The Imperial Navy's entire Battlefleet Solar emerged from the Warp 6 hours later in response to the distress call from Pluto and engaged the Nurgleite fleet above that frozen planetoid. A strike force of Adeptus Custodes from Terra teleported down to the surface of Pluto and were supported by several units of Howling Griffons Space Marines who were in the vicinity of the Sol System at the time and Grey Knights from the nearby Ordo Malleus base on Titan. In single combat, Festernius challenged the sergeant leading the Custodes detachment to combat and reportedly slew him and his strike force of 6 Custodes to a man. Festernius was reported to have vomited on the Custodes' sergeant's breastplate, melting through the ceramite layers of his Power Armour and then, thrusting both his hands into the hole, tore the powerful Custodes warrior in two. Despite this brief victory, 4,000 Traitor Marines were slain to a man by the Howling Griffons and Grey Knight forces with Festernius eventually being defeated in single combat by the Captain of the Grey Knights. He was recorded to have burst apart Festernius' plague spewer with a shot from his Stormbolter before extinguishing the Chaos Lord's disease-ravaged mind with a psychic blast. Of the Chaos warfleet that assaulted the Sol System's outermost defences, 27 starships were destroyed by the wrath of Battlefleet Solar while only 3 Imperial vessels were lost.

7 Custodes < 1 Grey Knight Captain

Did Matt Ward write that?

Seven Custodians should be worse than 1 Grey Knight Captain.

Along with being one of the finest Space Marines the galaxy has ever known, he is a powerful psyker.

Thousand Son Captains were killing scores of Custodians left and right single-handedly.

Also, at no point does any text state the Beast besieged Terra.

Doesn't it mention the name of the planet the Beast was slain upon?

Maybe in the first 3 HH books somewhere? I think Horus mentions it in passing...

I think you're thinking of Ullanor, but that wasn't to do with the Beast. The Beast came along time after the Horus Heresy was over.
