Don't know how many people out there have given this book a look yet, but Imperial Armour 1 2nd Edition brings the armored company into 6th edition complete with warlord traits and orders for the tank commander to give to other tanks. So i talked to my local TO's for our FLGSs here and got approval to use FW in the tourneys.

I assume it's going to be more of a 'Demolish their entire army with high strength pieplates' then 'EEHEE, LETS CAMP ON OBJECTIVES!!' xD

Also, looking good, no real faults except any army with enough darklight/lascannon spam is going to absolutely muller you! If I were you I'd take one or two of the LR's out and take a CCS with a load of IG to provide a nice screen of infantry to hide behind, that's what Guardsmen are for after all! Aside from this, you need to think about fliers, they're a real nuisance and if someone takes some Vendettas against you, again, you're going to get whupped, just food for thought

Thanks, yeah, on objective based games the best i can hope for is a tie buy making sure the enemy doesn't get any either. If i am lucky i can table my opponent for the win but not likely. There are certain armies i will auto lose to like necrons and i can live with that.

Air is my only real concern and i was thinking about dropping a medusa and taking a hyrdra to try and round that out but im not sure yet. Im gonna have to playtest it a couple times first.

I can always hope i roll a 6 on the warlord trait table to make the warlords tank a scoring unit

Yea flier heavy lists will be a problem for you, especially helldrakes but they are a problem for almost any army. I think flying daemon prince's will also get up close and reck your list. If you throw a hydra in your opponents air units will focus that, I dont see hydras being very good anti air.

I also believe bike lists would probably roll through this list too.

The most you can do is plan on first blood and try and kick them of objectives.

Better yet, drop a Medusa and take a Vendetta, or even two, they're excellent for both taking out the tanks (which you'll have trouble killing due to low strength pieplates) and also for eliminating enemy fliers, they're just great all-rounders, I usually take two, even in small games, and you can also use them to ferry around Meltavets, which (in my infantry-heavy Guardsman army) I use to one-turn vehicles, or use flamervets to really eliminate horde armies. Just a thought mate

3 Vendettas are a great idea
Run Meduseas or Demolishers, not both
also, iirc, with the new FAQs, Thuderer is just as good as Demolisher at 20 points less

Drop the bastion breacher shells and the destroiers and take some Vendettas. I would also take 6 basic Russes instead of the Demolishers it will give you more range. This way you will only need troops in 50% of the games you play and that won't matter because your army should be able to wipe out troops by turn 3.

Termie heavy armies will destroy this list as well, as the best way to kill termies is ap1-2 or weight of fire. With tanks having scattering blasts he deffinitly doesnt have weight of fire, so I would keep whatever ap1-2 he can take.

What would be a fun list would be to take the standard Codex IG as the main force and take a CCS with 4x Meltas and an Astropath & 2 Melta Vet Squads (Demo charge is optional). Put them in 3 Vendettas then Max out HS.

Then Ally in an Armoured Battle Group and take the Command Tank and 2 Leman russes as troops then take a 4th Vendetta and HS.

With this you get 4 Heavys and 4 Fast Attack so big guns and the scouring should be ok with scoring units. Kills points should be fine as well. For 2 out of the other 3 you have a mission with 1 objective and another with 2 and 2 scoring units to take them with. In crusade you basicly just clear out troops and jump on objectives late game.

You can only have one squadron of vendettas in an ABG list, so would need to squadron them to take more than one. I can see two major areas that could be improved:

1: You need some scoring units. Even just cheap AF squads would help, hoping to win objective games by tabling is wishful thinking really. They also give some infantry firepower to the fight, and can block tanks if needed. 2-3 infantry squads are probably a good idea.

2: Too many blasts. The lack of direct fire weapons will really hurt you when it comes to finishing off squads and shooting at FMCs and fliers. Maybe shift a few russes over to exterminators or vanquishers.

Other than that, I can advise you to consider squadrons. Pairs of russes make great front line units, as they are very hard to get first blood from an offer cover to the more valuable tanks behind. Personally, I have a pair of demolishers and a pair of exterminators as my front line tanks. Squadrons can take orders better than single tanks too, and command tanks only give one order each so it helps.

I also really like a standard LRBT command tank with infernus shells. Can hurt light objective holders at range, which can be a problem without barrage weapons.

Tanks for all the great advice I'm gonna have to test drive the list with russes by themselves vs squads of 2. I can see the merit of having them together to deny easy first blood. This new list should allow for a better chance in a larger variety of scenarios. I think the vanquishers with the BS 4 characters in them with armourbane will do much better then the tank destroyers. It also saved me some money on FW tanks.
