Even in the lore, many are unsatisfied with the current leader of the Black Crusades, Abbadon the Despoiler... So lets say he was killed in battle or slain by another Chaos lord, who do you think would lead the forces of chaos to glory in his place? Personally I think Erebus would be perfect, he's chaos undivided so he's impartial, He's a great Demagogue and is the architect of the long war to begin with. I'm sure he would have the zeal and charisma to see the war to its final bloody end....

Who knows? Abbadon is favoured by the gods, and all of his crusades have actually been successful, he hasn't gone for Terra yet. There's also that prophecy in C:CSM about the favoured son marching forth 13 times or something along those lines.
If he DID fall though, there would be a huge war for command. I could see the Daemon Primarchs topping the bill though, they've finally got their arsed into gear on Cadia, so they might actually do what they were made to do and command their legions.

If Abbadon was slain by another chaos lord then that Chaos Lord would become the new leader. If not then probably a daemon primarch.

I think it would be another member of the Black Legion. Which one remains to be seen, but the new book series from Aaron Dembski-Bowden should give us some good clues!

It would most likely be another member of the Black Legion. They are the ones that are closest to the center of the eight pointed star. Others would have too strong ties to one god, like most deamon primarchs. Huron might be a possibility, but he seems to scheming to be liked by Khorne for example, with not enough blood in his actions. Iron Warriors seem to feel a bit Nurgly for Tzeench's taste, with all that unchangeble metal, maintaining the old. Lorgar might be a possibility, who knows what hes doing inside his church for all this time, but too inactive at the moment.

Huron's stuck in the Maelstorm the other side of Terra from where the majority of chaoses forces are concentrated, I doubt he would even attempt to grab command

Personally I think at least one of the Daemon Primarchs would attempt to get the gig. Angron would get stuff done, or Peturbo is undivided but most likely it would be a Word Bearer Apostle most likely

Honsou, he's smart, evil as gak, chaos undivided, legions behind him, and he hasn't been added as a actual SC yet so if GW wanted to they could easily write him to replace Abby next edition.... however personally I would love if Cyper took over, I know completely out of fluff but I love me some Fallen Angels

Although I agree, he has some Imperial Fist geneseed which might anger some chaos space marines... Then again, he's already been underestimated several times and emerged victorious before so who knows...

What's to say the Chaos Gods don't just resurrect him? They've done it for less important followers. None of the other mortal Chaos Lords hold a candle to Abaddon anyway.
