Obviously this is only just a scratch of the surface and there will be more to follow. Comments and criticisms are welcome as this is a new venture.

THE FAITHFUL

SEGMENTUM: Obscurus
SYSTEM: Halo Stars
SECTOR: Koronus Expanse
HOME WORLD: Torleg
CREATION: M31 exact date unknown
Successor of DARK ANGELS

Prior to the shattering of the Dark Angel homeworld of Caliban, a small group comparatively, left their home for search of a new one. Their leader was one Durien Morlin though up to that point he was no outstanding war hero or economic leader. He could be called a religuous leader though in a sense, taking on the mantle of chaplin only months prior to their departure from the planet. Durien had a way about him, when he spoke you listened. It is how he got the resources needed to leave the planet along with near fifty of his battle brothers, a company of Imperial troops and all the locals he could fit into a fully loaded out troop carrier. They were meerly days out and entering the warp to travel to a nearby planet when the Lion’s fleet returned to Caliban, missing its horrid destruction. However, the warp storm that followed was not so kind. So terrible was the storm it reached the ship and drove the navigator mad, lost in the warp for a time uncounted by the men aboard they finally found a way out only to find themselves in the uncharted worlds of the Halo Stars.

Majority onboard being Caliban natives wanted a world as close to theirs as they could find. After weeks of slow travel through normal space they discovered a planet to their liking that would also support life, and thus did they settle on their new planet.

As it turned out there were native peoples on the planet though few and far between. Aggressive in nature these peoples which might be considered humanoid attacked the newcomers. The favor of battle remained in the hands of humanity though over time the locals adjusted tactics and obtained a higher kill count they never wholesale won anything. The best they could ever manage was overcoming patrols and even then the cost was great. The Faithful being fed up with these attacks gathered together and made a hard push against all the tribes on that continent wiping them out. But it left them with an issue, they had no factories to produce arms and munitions and now they had to change their tactics if they were to keep up this prowess. Now every bullet counted, they learned to never waste a shot. Many returned to the old ways of swordplay focusing more on melee than range. Thus did they carve out a place for humanity on this new world the natives called Torleg.

Name: Torleg
Segmentum: Obscurus
Sub-Sector: Koronus Expanse
Population: 200k
Affiliation: Imperial
Class: Death World

Torleg resembles Caliban with its many forests and mountain ranges, and deadly fauna and flora. However, most of the forests are of a tropical nature given the planet’s highly dense atmosphere leaving a perpetual mist on everything. There are also regular rain storms with a monsoon season twice a standard year. For all the moisture it’s never especially hot or humid just damp. But even all but the highest mountain peaks do not hold snow. Torleg has turned out to be a great source of lumber and minerals for the people lending to strong defenses around populated areas. The bulk of the human population resides on the largest continent of the planet and over the years the people built a perimeter wall five miles from the shore line around the continent. So, many cities and towns are near this wall since it must be guarded against the native tribes. This was done simply because at the time they did not have the supplies or manpower for a planet-wide purge. However, it has become a test of strength along with battling native fauna within the wall to travel to another continent and battle a tribe trophies of victory are required of course.

My honor is my life, to fail is to dishonor, to dishonor is to die.

Durien Morlin: The First Father

It was Durien’s decision to leave Caliban, though many tried to convince him otherwise. As a chaplain he was vastly familiar with the teachings of the Emperor, however, certain portions of it stood out over the rest. Firstly being the Emperor never claimed to be a god and told his people not to worship him as such. Second, it was the duty of a space marine and all that much more of a space marine chaplain to tend to the flock of believers. While being devote he was also practical and as he saw the corruption coming from the leaders of Caliban he knew no force he could muster himself would be enough to purge them. So he decided to gather those he knew were still faithful and shepherd them away to another planet then contact the Imperium about the taint.

He was a young aspiring knight when the Emperor stepped foot on Caliban, in the greatness of his presence Durien knew he must surely listen and hold dear all that was said. When the time came that the men of the world took their tests to be space marines Durien was accepted and be began his training and surgeries. During this time he was also tested like the others for latent psychic abilities, his were not great enough to induct him into the librarians but was placed near a chaplain so he could be ‘watched’ for any future taint. As it was he threw himself into the duties of the chaplaincy and was eventually granted the black shoulder-plate, the sign of a novice chaplain. There was talk of him becoming an official chaplain over a company of angels. Which he was happy about but showed no obvious sign of such, saying that his time would come when it would come. All the while he watched and saw the slow creep of corruption pass over Luther and his retune. He began his own whisperings amongst those he trusted about it, and one day when he truly was given the title of chaplain with all rights and honors that came with it, he believed now was his chance to move. It took two months of planning and cohersion but he was able to convince enough authorities to allow him and those he could gather to board a troop transport and move to a nearby planet to make a new colony. Two days after they left The Lion’s fleet returned to Caliban and that is part of another history.

My honor is my life, to fail is to dishonor, to dishonor is to die.
