Say a Bloodthirster was triple assaulted by Dreadknights. Can he essentially protect himself via challenges and just take them out 1 by 1? or can the DKs decline a challenge now that they are not the only character in the close combat? Making it so 1 DK sits while the other 2 lump up the Bloodthirster.

Read Heroic Stand page 64

Dreadknights aren't required to accept challenges, so 1 can decline and you'll only have to fight 2.
