Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Well, Here it is, when I originally started playing 40k, Tau were my first 1000pt army. I soon fell into the loving embrace of The God Emperor and never looked back. WIth the new release I decided to once again pick up Tau. This is my first completed model in a caste of my own creation, I will have a P&M Blog starting soon, but figured I could post the first one here as well.

Hope you enjoy!

My work as a soldier is done and now passes to you for I have great tasks to perform in my earthly sanctum. I name you Warmaster and from this day forth all of my armies and generals shall take orders from you as if the words came from mine own mouth. But words of caution I have for you for your brother Primarchs are strong of will, of thought and of action.

Thanks Bob, Unfortunately the lighting somewhat mutes a few of the highlights on his armor, but that's what I get for not having a nice photo setup yet :(

Yeah, the armour does look a little flat in the pics, but it's nice and clean and neat.

The grey edging on the black is a little heavy for my taste, but it's certainly striking

Nice work.

It's like Insaniak read my mind and then typed out what I was thinking.

I like my Tau a little flat, though, so it works. I think the clean, even color is far more important than making it vibrant.

Nice work! colour is good and well neat! are you going to add some sept markings in a brighter colour? and what process are you using for your grey/black areas? some bits look shaded and others edge highlights?

looking forward to seeing some troops :-)

Thanks all.

@ Nerd, The entire model actually has edge highlighting and shading, the lighting ruins the edge highlighting on the armor plates as it is pretty subtle. Blacks are just edged with codex grey and then a light wash of nuln oil to dull them down a hair.

Brokk I feel your pain dude! taking good pics is the bane of my hobby life try getting a real colour shot of blended reds! and i also use the edge highlighting to finish off but it never shows how damn nice it looks!

I though that's what you did with the black/grey and it looks good for only one highlight colour and a wash!

I really like the color scheme, and the base does an excellent job of making it stand out.

I like it. It's very crisp with clean lines. It looks likes it's a Tau Battle Suit on display at some Imperial museum.

Ugh, isnt that the truth. Like in that comp you made last year. Everyone told me my entry looked good but they wished I had did more work on the Squig.....problem was, there was like 4 shades of reds on that damn thing that just looked RED in the pic
