I was considering adding a chaos bike unit to my army and was wondering whether I should pickup the chaos Battleforce or the dark vengeance set. With DV you get so much more, but no chaos bikes.

I was just wondering if anyone had converted these DA bikes to chaos bikers and if you had any tips on how or what you did. If they don't come completely assembled I think it would be fairly easy. How much of the DA iconography is already molded Into the bikes?

the DV bikes are two or three piece dealios, that are covered from stem to stern in loyalist dark angel icnography. The only chaos possible is a small detacment of traitor dark angels, unless you are willing to spend upwards of 30 minutes per bike fixing it into chaos. There are different kinds of costs and benefits, some people love this kind of project, others avoid it at all costs. more info on what you want to do?

Most of the DA iconography can be easily scraped off and if you use a very fine grit sandpaper, can be filed smooth. The hardest parts to deal with are the wings on the handlebars and the robes on the sergeant. If you're good with plasticard you can replace the handlebars, not sure how you'd fix the sarg though.

You can always buy some fw brass etch to chaosify the bikes if you don't have any spare bits.

If you're just after bikes, you could just get the Ravenwing battleforce. That way you get 6 vanilla bikes and an attack bike that you can chaosify. And you'll have tons of Dark Angel bits and a landspeeder you can trade off or sell for more chaos stuff.

Edit: Wait... does chaos even use attack bikes? Oh well, in that case you get 7 bikes and some attack bike bits you can use for converting junk.

Just keep the wings and cut chunks and scrapes into them. Paint as weathered brass.

Cover iconography with bitz or GS, or file/clip off. I think these would look great as chaos bikers... the recently fallen, maybe.

The DA stuff on the bikes isn't that tough to get rid of... on the bikers the conversions would be more challenging, but either traitor marines would work or go full bore and completely convert them. Look in my Doom Eagles gallery, there's a shot of the dv bikes where I used skulls from the old skeleton warriors box to replace the wing/sword on the front wheel fenders.

Well spending the time to convert them will actually be kind of fun. I have recently started the hobby but first purchases were the ork Battleforce and an imperial guard manticore. The looted wagon was fun to modify, and my second modification was making an ork bike a trike by addin some extra Trukk wheels. The ravening Battleforce sounds like a good idea but I still would have to get the chaos bits.

Depends how many bikes you plan on using.

The battleforce is only good if you plan to use most of the other parts.

If converting isnt your thing then I would suggest just buying the bikes separate to use them.

I myself plan to get the BF since I could use extra possessed(I have 5 atm) and the CSM squad would boost my numbers nicely. Would still need an extra 2 bikes to make a 5 man squad though.

The DA wings aren't a problem - Chaos includes plenty of winged nastiness too. But yes, you'd need to remove any actual DA/Ravenwing icons, unless you're representing a chaos force who've looted their rides from dead DA?

Well my Ork force that I'm allying these chaos bikers are deathskulls, so lots of looting all around. Perhaps that would work.

I think a bits kit of chaos helmets and some chaos spiky bits could really pull it together.
