Was playing in the Beta and had enough fun with it that I figured I could think of it as an XBLA title and drop $19.99 for the early buy in to get the Hulk package. It seems like the kind of game you play every so often to kill some time and that would be the entirety of my investment. Went and looked at the Founders packs and the Hulk (and quite a few others) are 'sold out'. It is just a digital purchase, there is no physical copy, and yet, 'sold out'. The only way to get the Hulk would be to buy a $60 package that is only Hulk and variant Hulk costumes (most of the $60 are 4 character packs), or the $200 mega pack of lolz. I could see supporting them for $20, but $60 is crazy, and limited amounts of a digital item is sill. So, no $20 from me.

Aye, I signed up for Beta, had a couple of invites, but after I saw the payment program I had no interest.

They also had a limited thing running when I first looked up, and you could get the hero packs at a special rate, which even then I thought was taking the mick.

So yeah, no interest in this at all, not even going to try it.

Wow, that is some damning news indeed! Saw this on Steam today and my interest is piqued, but that is disappointing to hear they are already doing this kind of stuff, and at such extreme greed levels.

Wikipedia makes it sound like you can also buy heroes using in-game currency. In that case it sounds like League of Legends: either unlock new characters over time by playing the game, or unlock the particular character you want when you start playing with real money.
