I'm Scavtastic/Matt and am looking forward to seeing all of the many and beautiful threads, conversion, and paint jobs submitted by the people on Dakka Dakka. Whenever I do a table top related search I tend to end up here anyway so I figured it was time I got an account. I used to play Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, but have grown increasingly disenchanted with the way the Games Workshop has been conducting it's business over the last five years or so (constantly increasing their prices without justification, changing rules in ways that force players to increase the size of all of their units in order to stay competitive etc). I've kept playing 40k because I don't feel it's been hit so hard as fantasy has, but I'm increasingly looking for games that don't require many models. As such, I'm getting back into Necromunda in quite a big way, and have also been eyeing up 'Infinity'.

People who say that stories about rogue traders are all just Firefly rip-offs have obviously have never heard of Rogue Trader.

Hey welcome! Always cool too see another from NZ.
Yeah I can see how it has lost a bit of its charm. Being a vampire counts player, I've found things have gotten pretty expensive as well so haven't really looked at getting many of the newer models. But I guess being a predominantly 40k player it hasn't been so bad. I would also recommend infinity, only done about half a dozen games myself so far but it seems cool.

Yeah, I was mostly into Fantasy (3,500pt Tomb Kings army), but I have to stop playing I can't afford to buy the number of models they expect from us now and I won't encourage the way they're treating the players. I've got a little Eldar army that I'll finish and then I reckon that'll probably be it for 40k and Fantasy for me. I like the look of Infinity models and the backhistory of some of the armies, so I'll definitely be giving that a go.

That sounds great, I'd be keen but I'm down in the Waikato. We used to have a friday night games club here but that ended a couple of years ago. Now me and a friend are trying to start a new one at the uni (most people so far seem really into RPG's which is cool, but we're having trouble finding tabletop wargammers).
