I'm kind of at my wit's end here; I have a friend who only, and I mean only fields the Nurgle Netlist. He says he wants to "practice for tournaments" but its very frustrating playing it.
I currently play Lizardmen, but I'm open to exploring new armies. I've got some interest in Ogre Kingdoms and Dark Elves.

Does anyone here have a surefire method of just annihilating the list? Between a Daemon Prince that can wipe out a whole unit with spells 3 and 4, who also can barely be hit in close combat, plus two of the Khorne Cannons, and Epidimus himself, what can I field in any army that consistently mashes this list?

Is the Netlist the one where he goes fishing? Or the one listed on the internet--which is all of them.

If you kill Epidemius with something snipey, all nurgle buffs break. Other than Daemon of nurgle stuff of course. He can't hide in anything except MC and there's only 2 units of those and I don't think he can join one. So basically only Khorne, um, stomper things.

You can take 2 skink chiefs on terradons, one with dragon bane gem, other with dragon helm. This will give you a 2+ ward vs the cannons and let you go epidemius hunting.
Avoid anything that cannons hose (steggadons) and you'll neutralize his cannons pretty effectively.
Have the slaan take the discard 6's power, along with feedback scroll and bane head.
Lore of light.

The signature spell would do 2D6 S6 hits on the daemon prince, with all wounds doubled.
Since the price is discarding 6's when he casts, he'll have to use a lot of dice to get anything off. Which is when you pop the feed back scroll.

Basically, load up on saurus and temple guard, buff them, and go to town.

If a skink priest is riding the steggadon, does the 2+ ward save get conferred to the stega as well? I thought both the rider and mount took the hit.

I think you want the avoidance lizards list, which capitalises on his weaknesses. It is very fast moving, has a lot of shooting capabilities, and can dominate the magic phase. I also recommend dual slaan, on shadow and light. The reason for this is because you gain access to Pit of Shades and the Light magic missiles. Nurgle Demons like neither of those.

As for the Khornate cannons, they dislike poisoned shots, especially in the quantities that the avoidance list has.

The prince, as already mentioned dislikes Lore of Light..

Dark Elves can take stuff like a level 2 with 3 metal spells and a level 4 shadow mage with the sac dagger. That gives you the potential to cancel out MoN and hit on 2s.

Ogres can purple sun the main blocks and ironblaster the cannons off.

I'm interested to hear what the nurgle net-list is comprised off. Can you share the list? Promise not to play it...

The Nurgle Net-List is essentially two hordes of Plaguebearers, a kitted-out Daemon Prince level 4 with Mark of Nurgle, a Soulgrinder Stonethrower, mark of Nurgle, two Khorne Cannons, and three beasts of Nurgle as roamers.
You also run Epidimus

Since Epidimus' tally is for all WOUNDS caused by daemons of nurgle, you use Rancid Visitation and Curse of the Leper to annihilate whole units and drop stonethrower shots on low-toughness models to rack up the tally to its ultimate level in one or two turns, then go nuts with S5 T5 rerollable wardsave Plaguebearers.
If you're especially a toolbag, you deploy Epidimus outside of a unit behind a piece of terrain in some corner of the board to make sure they can never touch him.
The Prince is just very very hard to answer for most armies, and having core units with such jacked up stats is also difficult for most armies. The plaguebearers end up as models that are individually stronger and more durable than whole ogres.

That's a pretty standard epidemius build. I had said the soul grinder could get wounds by his lonesome, though I think I recommended 2. Cuz if you get +1/1 you have a S7 T8 W6 guy with 4+ armor and a rerollable ward and KB that can TS. They're daemon princes with sucky WS/I but more defense.

Plaguebearers aren't Ogres. They have 1/3 the wounds, no ogre charge, no stomp. Poison KB is nice though.

Nurgle Grinders with stone thrower are 305, preventing 2 in a 2400 list.

Killing Ep makes it a pretty meh list.

@ 2400
Slaan, +1 power die, make opponents discard 6's. Bane Head. Lore of Light (going for the default, net, banishment, and speed of light (ideally)
Old Blood, light armor, shield, dragon helm, Arabian Carpet, Piranha blade (1+ armor, 2+ ward vs fire, fly, doubles all wounds).
Skink Priest with cube of darkness
Skink Priest with dispel scroll
3x Chameleon skinks
Spend rest on saurus warriors and temple guard.

The Oldblood guns for ep. Slaan tries and magic missiles the daemon prince, using the ability to cast through the skink priest if needed (which often catches people off guard).

I didn't say get stone thrower. They got 4 attacks and tstomp. I think that's pretty respectable. And a grapeshot if you really want to count.

I don't think you can run EP without portalglpyph or monstrous cav. But bloodcrushers are unbelievably expensive just for a LoS. As sucky as it is, having the DP or GUO foot the bill for a portalglyph is totally worth the price to have an undispellable stacking buff of uberness.

if you read the other posts in this section or maybe it's the one at the bottom, all you have to do is play High Elves.
