I recently got the Cypher model and was planning on painting him in the original DA colors (black) until someone pointed out to me that in recent pictures, both model and drawings, that he was wearing modern DA green. While I'm still going for the black armor, what color is Cypher's PA to the Dakkadakka members out there? Do you think it's better to have him keep the DA green PA or have the original DA black PA?

He is meant to be that undercover guy with unknown goals. I would paint my armor green if i were him

Black is a much less fun color to paint than green. I've only ever seen him in green from the 'Eavy Metal team. I think he's been around long enough to buy a couple cans of paint and paint his armor green.

I think you should buy two models and paint one green and the other black and swap models every turn.

The most recent picture on the GW page was a very dark green.

I don't know what Naaman is.

I also don't own Cypher, but this picture should answer your question.

Naaman used to be a special character for Dark Angels.

Because the mini is so old he is a bit shorter then the current ones.

Use this link

I just realized that my picture above was faulty.

Thanks for the naaman picture.

Edit: Well, crap. It won't let me link to it. Ah, well. There was a picture of a Cypher model standing next to a few PA chaos marines and they were the same size.

By the look of the proportions, and the fact he was never released in plastic, I'd say he's the old size (4th ed minis)

Let's see if this one works.

I got him years ago for my IG army (when you had to buy the Chaos Codex, to get his rules) and he is the same size as the 5 robed DA minis I bought along with him as his escorts.
Now if I could have a reason to take him out of my Chaos Case and use him. He's been taunting me everything I play.

It looks close, but Cypher is slightly closer to the camera than the other marines, distorting size proportions slightly. Still looks slightly shorter to me.

Could be. It's fairly close for me, but I understand if people want their models more uniform.

Still a cool model.

I too have the Cypher model waiting to be painted, and I'm planning on going for the original black armour with a white tabard. I basically figure hes from the heresy era, so why wouldn't he have the heresy era colour scheme?

Black in my opinion - he wasn't around when the DA turned to green and would have no reason to repaint his armour.

That and black fits the mysterious aspect better.

Although with the amount of skulls and bones on his armour painting him black could end up with him looking like a LOTD with a robe.

He frequently tries to blend in as a Dark Angel to pursue his goals. Kind of hard to do that when you aren't even painted the same colour.

Well, just painted his armor black, but I'm planning on dry brushing some DA green to see if it looks good that way. I'll let you guys know how it looks when I get back to it.
EDIT: The Cypher model is the same height as a Space Marine model for those who were curious.
