So my idea is to be as competitive as possible without running into a 2k dbl foc.
HQ:
typhus - 230
Sorcerer in termi armor - 135
-mastery level 3
Elites:
5 man termi sqd - 238
-mark of burgle
- 3 power axes, 2 chain fist, 3 combimelta, 2 combiflamer
troops:
29 zombies - 126
28 zombies - 122
7 plague marines - 168
7 plague marines - 168
7 plague marines - 168
fast:
heldrake - 170
heldrake - 170
(depending on army will depend on the flamer or cannon, inf heavy= flamer veh heavy = cannon)
heavy:
2 obliterators - 152
-mark of burgle
2 obliterators - 152
-mark of bugle
termies will drop in on something that needs to die in a hurry, oblits will do obliterator things. zombies are meat shields for sorcerer an typhus, and marines will prob just be left on a point.
any ideas to make this better?

Transport and assault weapons for the plague marines.
Heavy flamer rather than combi-flamer in the terminators.
More heavy support.
Marines need to push forward with the zombie blobs.

Yes it needs some heavy support, a havoc squad with autocannons would serve you well and I do believe plague marines have Slow and Purposeful rule so rhinos are ideal to get them to the front line

Actually they don't. So they can run. But they also can take two special weapons in a five man squad which is very nice. Drop one or two guys in each group and get them some plasma guns. I personally don't like rhinos when playing a nurgle themed army I just try to control the middle of the board and my side. You can win most missions that way. Also think about deep striking either Typhus or the Sorc with the termies and have them start casting that nasty nurgle pie plate!!

I love Warhammer 40000 and if you want to try to spoil that for me, or impose your own vision of it onto mine, then you can go suck a lemon. |

Yep the can run but then any weapons upgrades (not that there are any at the moment) are wasted and it still only gets you around 12" at the best. Anyone not protecting an objective (not many in the purge the alien mission!) can happily move back 6" and carry on shooting; plagues are not that great in a fire fight, too expensive. Bearing in mind they is a 24" gap between the plagues and what they may want to assault (based on 3-4" average run distance and playing along the board) you could spend the entire game running and not get to anything. The way the army is set up at the moment is for the plagues to hold objectives or take ones close by. Give them transport and they can be used agressively is the suggestion I was making.
I was thinking about the characters with the zombies or with the terminators. I think having both gives a more flexibility in the force. I half concluded that in this instance they need to be in the zombies to make them a credible threat, spread the combat monsters armound the board and not in a single unit and to stop a silly number of points from the force starting in resevre (940pts out of 2000 is quite a lot).

Ok so I dropped both squads of zombies down to 26 zombies each. Dropped the plague marines down to 5 mans and added a rhino and plasma guns each. Any suggestions for Heavy support? I figured 2, 2man oblits would tie heavy hitters down for at least a turn. welcome to any suggestions though. Automatically Appended Next Post: An should I keep both heldrakes or drop one for a heavy? So far Heldrakes are working pretty awesome especially against Meq armies for me. but again I am open to any suggestions

Maybe take a look at the bazillion other Typhus/Nurgle lists with Heldrakes galore that seems to infest this board
I mean there is seriously so many lists similar to this one that there should be a sticky topic on this board called "Read this if you plan to make a Nurgle army for csm", containing all the wise words about this type of list.

Sorc needs a spell familiar. Oblitsh should have MoN and Votlw. I love my plague marines with 2 plas guns.

That's allright, and if you're new to the game then I apologize for sounding like I was gunning for you in particular.

HA! Mark of Burgle...
On a serious note, the Zombies will be underwhelming. They are to sit with Typhus and soak wounds or camp a home objective. Two are not needed and they don't do much for you offensively. Your Plague Marines need to fill up those special weapon slots, that is the benefit of them. Rhinos are used because of two reasons... you place them inside and now they have to kill the Rhino to kill the Marines. The second part is that Rhinos have two fire ports, so you can fire your two special weapons freely. A neat little trick is upgrading the Rhino's weapons with a combi-melta or Havoc Launcher, depending on marine's special weapons and the role of the unit.
Oblits are ok for fire support, but they do need a Mark of Nurgle (Burgle...ha!) to make them T5 so Lascannons don't insta death them (if a weapon doubles it's target's Toughness total it instantly kills them no matter the number of wounds unless they have Eternal Warrior or a Toughness higher than of 6+) and Vets of the Long War (VotLW) to keep them from running off the board when one does die (because you can't split up wounds, they all go on one till it dies). The problem with Oblits is that they can not fire the same weapon every turn. If you need Lascannons Turn 1 AND Turn 2, your screwed till Turn 3. I find this a problem and tend to take two Predator tanks with LC sponsons and one squad of Oblits for their versatility.
Yeah, mono Nurgle is a solid list, but I think Typhus is meh. He is super expensive, zombies are underwhelming, and I would rather have a Nurgle Mech list with a Bike lord and a Bike Sorc with a bunch of bikers at T6 and with Psyker powers from Biomancy (well, two and one from Nurgle).
Good luck, enjoy the game!

Oh, quick note... always take Bale flamers on the Helldrake, as it is AP 3 and a template (which ignores cover saves). That thing, along with it's 5+ Invuln save (to deal with things that ignore cover saves from Jink), is pretty awesome against troops, specially camping troops in cover.

yea I have noticed that already out of one game with it. Doing a good path with a torrent flamer can take a squad of troops out easily. I just figured that the autocannon would work better against vehicles along side with vector strike cause of str8
