Codex Grey Knights. They have the ability to use the flak armoured Squats as Henchmen and the Exo Armoured Squats as Paladins.

The fluff seems to fit Squats too as the Grey Knights are recieving wierd technology from unknown sources.

"Khorne is a noble warrior who respects strength and bravery, who takes no joy in destroying the weak, and considers the helpless unworthy of his wrath. It is said that fate will spare any brave warrior who calls upon Khorne's name and pledges his soul to the blood god. It is also said that Khorne's daemons will hunt down and destroy any warrior who betrays his honour by killing a helpless innocent or murdering in cold blood..."

Squats.... allied with Eldar....

That's like... double heresy...

The Squats have a MAJOR hatred of the Eldar after they betrayed them and left them for dead at the hands of the Orks, so unless you've got some really creative backstory, having Eldar and Squats allied just feels wrong to me.

On topic, it depends on what aspect of the squats you wanted to focus on. Regular squats would best be represented by IG, as the squats founded several Imperial Guard regiments. If you're wanting to emphasize the power armored squats and bikers, a space marine codex might be a better fit, especially dark angels, since they can make both termis and bikes troops. Grey Knights may be an option as well if you wanted to show off the really REALLY crazy tech that the squats are rumored to have hidden from the Admech.

No matter what you choose, good luck OP!

Orks.

Seriously man, they fit the Squat statline (the one that I imagine at least) like a glove. Toughness 4, Low INT, 4+ saves on their elites, ready access to oversized-Squat-hammer stand-ins (PK or big choppa) and crazy guns (Flash Gits). Crazy Squat technology can be found in the form of a forcefield or a ridiculously powerful cannon. Dreadnaughts and mini-dreadnaughts are plentiful, as are heavy duty bikers. All the sorts of stuff I imagine Dwarves - I mean Squats, would be into

I am not sure about Orks. They do seem to tick all the boxes except for the light armoured Troops.

Squats IIRC were fairly well armoured. I guess you could go with a Warboss and Nobz army instead for the toughness and 4+ saves (plus the more elite feel I imagine Squats having).

However, might I suggest Codex Space Wolves?

They have tough, armoured Troop choices, decent firepower and plenty of potential for conversions to represent Squats better, plus they have Sagas and we all know how important ancestry and history are to Squats and Dwarfs.

The only things I would avoid in the SW codex would be Canis, Thunderwolves and Fenrisian Wolves. Anything else would be fair game imo.

I agree with the Ork call... I played my old squats as Orks locally a while back in 5th end, and the mass of heavy bolters became big shootas or looter weapons.... Lootas are really good, the lads in big groups are pretty good and the exo armor makes for good "nob" mega armor...

I'm pretty sure it's not fluffy, but I have a dream of making an IG/Orks Squat army, with the IG represented by militant dwarves and the Orks represented with bikers/miners/mechanics/whatever.

And, obviously, the military guys and the ragtag guys don't trust the other, but they're all dwarves so they band together.

A fellow took the original 2nd edition codex and updated to 5th edition. We added Preferred Enemy to Orks and it works.

A little updating with the IG list to use Basilisks and you are pretty much there.

I run a Squat Platoon (3 infrantry squad platoon with PCS) unit in my IG Army. All the weapons they carry look like 2ed lasguns. They are the plastic minis, with the Rebel looking fighter helmets, Castro hats and bare heads.

They have destroyed a deepstriking Mawloc with a well placed FRFSRF order! SQUATS FOR THE WIN!!

I do not discriminate....all races are equally worthless....

I was originally thinking Space Wolves, but I'm leaning towards Dark Angels for their bike-friendly codex.

Squats at their core were Guard using Marine equipment. Sisters would be the best match if their codex wasn't so weak at the moment. And since the Space Dwarves do use almost the exact same gear as Marines (Rhinos, Bikes, Attack Bikes, CA armored light troops, PA medium troops, TDA heavy troops) might as well just use Codex Marines.

Not really. They had bikes, but squats other than the hearthguard and exo-armor had flak armor and lasguns. The thing that really set them apart was the statline (WS4, T4, I2, Ld9), the large numbers of special and heavy weapons the thunderers could take, and the artillery options (thudd guns, mole mortars, tarantulas). There was no power armor option for squats in the Black Codex, and most could not take bolters.

^ This.

Squats were an IG army built around a MEQ core, heavy on the bikes and/or the armor support.

Orks lead by Wazdakka to get bikes troops and a mega armoured Warboss to get MANZ as troops. You could take some Ard boys to get better armour if you wanted. Don't forget that the Squats were over run by Orks so if they has a few hijacked trucks etc it would fit in with there fluff.
