Hey Dakkas

Looking for Europe based paint remover for plastic, w40k miniatures - preferably on ebay if possible.
In other words, simple green is not available to me by ebay due to its shipping limitations :(

Would anyone know a solution that doesn't including melting down plastic?

Try Dettol if you can get it. I've had plastic mini's in it for a week with no melting. Do not mix with water (unless you want a horrid sticky mess) and do use the brown dettol like this one:

some cheap oven degrease material usually works fine... be sure to test it on some sprue first though!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
dettol also works but it stinks and prolonged exposure can have a negative effect on the plastic.
also, as soon as it comes into contact with water your paints will turn into a very hard to remove goo

Dettol liquid works okay, stinks up the place though, and the modles will stink of it when they come out. It takes quite a long time too.

I find 'Fairy Power Spray' to work much better, spray it on, wait 15-30minutes and go at it with a tooth brush and rinse with water. Doesnt have the offending odour that dettol has, is okay to spash with water, is fast. Its an oven cleaning product, quite likely as said above many brands do something similar.

It´s used to disinfect hands at hospitals etc. Maybe a pharmacie could provide you with a local alternative.

Acetone-free nail polish remover. Very cheap and strips metal, plastic and resin. Also fast - 20-30 minutes soaking and the paint literally flows off.
Beware though, it stinks, so either do it outside or keep it in a sealed container.

QFT. I've used this myself and it works a treat.

Dettol has worked fine for me. I've left models in it for weeks without a problem.

If they were primed with GW spray, I put them in acetone for five minutes to shift it. Any longer and the plastic starts to be affected.

I haven't tried acetone free stuff. It sounds worth a try.

It's a horrid business, paint stripping plastic figures. The great advantage of metal models is you can just plop them in paint stripper for as long as you like and everything comes off very easily.

I imagine this would work well; when I used to work at Safeways we had industrial grade disinfectant for the front counter. With permanent marker it used to take a few days of serious scrubbing in the shower to get the paint off, or with household disinfectant even longer. But the industrial grade stuff? Literally made it runny, which I did not expect at the time so I had to go to the bathroom and wash up because the marker was making my arm dark.

Anyway, I swear by nail polish remover (acetone free; works on plastics) these days. 10-15 minutes, no more or else it softens, and some rigorous scrubbing can get even primer off in most cases.

Although you need to kind of treat it like dettol as you're better off scrubbing the paint off with the nail polish remover being soaked on the brush rather than the hot water.

and if you use dettol. be careful with it. use gloves and maybe eye protection. i had one small splatter on my arm and it completely dried out my skin. I can only imagine the sheer terror of having my hands bathe in it for several minutes :S

Fairy Power Spray FTW.

I know it is avaiable to various supermarkets in the UK - not sure about mainland Europe though.
